Are you, in fact, a pregnant lady who lives in the apartment next door to Superdeath's parents? - Commodore

Oxy breaks from convention(possibly)

I think a GoT naming scheme is too trite. Maybe characters from Community?

Also, I really want to play Washington of Mongolia, almost regardless of what the start looks like.

Scooter did Community characters in PBEM 34s. But there's no thing as too much Community.

Little competitive thought was put into this. It was mostly about what would be most fun, while still being competitive, hence Washington of Mongolia at 1.

Great, welcome aboard!

So the combo I got in the end: Pericles of Maya

-Honestly, I was so confident that nobody would place Washington first that I didn't put a lot of thought into what came after it. Perry of Maya does have some distinct advantages, though. The problem is he's not that well-suited for this kind of game. Pericles loves to built vertically, with an early-academy, early-Oxford, juiced up capital. This map seems like it'll be pretty roomy, substantially cutting back the value of a super-capital(unlike PBEM57, where I rode Quirrell all the way to a victory)

-Perhaps more importantly, the starting techs are absolutely atrocious for this start. I need to research agriculture-hunting-AH-BW-The Wheel before getting pottery, which hurts early capital development. At least techs are relatively cheap under these settings.

-I think the best strategy(assuming it's a roomy, lush map with a moderate amount of luxuries) is to pick up basic ancient techs and then directly beeline currency and then construction. I set up a bunch of triple-whipping settler cycles in my food heavy cities and try to expand really quickly, using wealth and cheap libraries as crash insurance while using ball courts to alleviate happy problems. Ignore Monarchy for a while, get an early academy up and maybe set up the time-honored philo bulb. Fill up my territory around turn 120, and try to consolidate in time to get liberalism earlyish and build Oxford. Of course, this is all heavilly dependent on neighbors and the map, so take this planning with a grain of salt.\

-I don't think pre-Knights warfare will be practical or common with this set up, even with all of the ostensible "choking units"

-I think I'm the underdog here, even though I'm technically tied with Commodore for most BTS wins(PB14 and PBEM57). Still, I think I have a decent shot, even though this game is unique in that nobody is that weak. I think Gaspar or Thoth is probably the weakest player, but only because I don't want to label myself as the worst. Maybe Pindicator on a bad game.

-Even with Gaspar and Commodore in the game, I'll try to throw together some player analysis with random scales and wild speculation. I also plan to report pretty well, so hopefully I'll be able to retain my feline ded-lurkers.

Excellent.

It portends ominously that you apparently lost thirty successive coinflips (or however the hell this picking system worked) to end up with this. Real bummer about starting with mysticism since you have to research All of the Techs. I'm going to guess that everyone ended up with a PH start and/or a 4-yield tile, so there may be some ultra-quick starts here.

Ugh, worker is going to have to idle for a couple turns. Man, I should have considered that someone else would have put Washington first.
