Wow.
Just...
...ow.
Welcome, gentlemen, to PBEM 60's Brennus of Persia. Across the rolling plains in the smack dab middle of the continent, we sit balefully on three cows, two wheat, a sheep, and lots and lots of plains farms. We are lowest in food and population, nearly lowest in power, middling in GNP, and just plain nutballs deep in sweet sweet hammers.
We're the proud owners of some of the best military tech in the game, able to build powerful war elephants and catapults. We need only to move a dozen workers to the forests to suddenly be deep in needed additional troopers. So, of course, we mostly have...swords. And eight workers!
Wonders aren't exactly wonderous around here:
-I have...Oracle
- Shaka (Hashoosh) has an absurd Pyramids/MoM/Stonehenge/Great Wall/Chichen Itza
- Ragnar (Ruff) owns GLH/SoZ/ToA/Parthenon
-Nobody else is in that gig
It was always peace, so nobody got pissed in a war...but I expect that to change presently.
Techwise, we're about middle of the pack; Napoleon (Molach) is well on his way to runaway status with quite a few up, and Financial Ragnar (Ruff) is near behind. At least I have Metal Casing, for what it is worth; I would say "not much" but the AI builds forges like it is Industrious. Shaka (Hashoosh) is definitely worst off, for all his wonderspamming. But I'm sure he's got a billion Aggressive swords to make up for it.
For reference, my F6. I own everything left and nothing right.
My civics set...are surprisingly non-weedy. I'm about to shake that up, honestly, probably going with Caste unto Serfdom to compensate for the miserable worker lack. Not like I have the food, health, or happy to whip anyway...
Victory screen tells us that Molach is in the lead on all points. Not much else to say, there.
More detail thoughts to come...

Okay, let's look around this place a bit more.
PERSIA:
The glorious capital of Persia is lovely Persepolis (theme waiting on real save). Easily one of the lushest cities in this world, she's also the site of one of the empire's only three cottages! Brennus, stripped of his mystic Celts, really isn't on form...no holy city here! I do own a nice fresh settled Great Prophet, so very glad GP pools are reset. I'm not sure how much Bureaucracy would bring me here but I'm sure I'll be in the civic some; every riverside hill is going to get a windmill so the city will in the end reach a decent size 16-17. It's going to be one hell of a hammer site. That, um, could kind of be the comment in all cities.
There is one other city that even sort of qualifies as "having food", that's here in Sakae. It's got a real need for health, basically zero security, and darned little long-term value, but that's nothing compared to having *two* whole food resources plus grassland farms.
Unfortunately, Mr. Ruff here could very well opt to snuff it out. His Ragnar powers threaten me, while Sakae steals his gold...
But by and large, Persia is made up of a bunch of foodless wunderkind with absurdly huge amounts of infra. My coast is criminally underutilized; in a crazy tectonics world, 2/0/2 tiles are actually pretty good!
Evidently, I Oracled Metal Casing...but never built the Colossus? I was mulling over erecting him in Gordium, when I realized... I have no copper! Oh for heaven's sake. I still want it, but Ruff with copper probably will be able to make it faster...
The rest of my cities just kind of baffle me; villages but not more cottages? Tha hell? One thing if for sure and certain; slavery ain't worth it folks. Serfdom can't come soon enough.
One bright point in all this is that Brennus left me with a farewell gift in the form of a settler; he's going to settle this lovely creature...YOU GUYS? IT HAS A SIX-FOOD TILE. ONE OF THE ONLY ONES IN THE WORLD!
Next, I'll be giving some thoughts on the rivals.

Going from west to east...
Hashoosh (funny, green) as Shaka (Exp/Agg) of France (Musketeer, Salon)
Hashoosh is a fairly new guy, jumping in with both feet into RB gaming. He's a funny guy, if a spotty reporter-excellent addition to the community. That being said, this is certainly *not* going to be his breakout role. Shaka built him a pretty shoddy France here, with a nice pile of good wonders but poor tech and uninspiring development. Theoretically, this is a nice combination; Aggressive boosts to musketeers, and Expansive helping with the mass of workers needed yesterday for all that wood. Sadly...yeah, he's pretty behind. He might be able to make hay with the geopolitics of his position. Chichen Itza does mean that he's hell to conquer, at least.
Ruff (esoteric, distracted) as Ragnar (Fin/Agg) of Khmer (Balista Elephant, Baray)
Ruff here is running basically the opposite kind of empire. He's small, without much defensive depth or long-term prospects...but he's got a ton going for him right now: Fun/Agg traits, Baray actually being helpful on this foodless hellscape, Ballista Elephants and catapults in a nice big army, first crack at the Colossus and a few nice wonders already, and a good economy with some solid cities. Ruff's problem is going to be where he goes from here, because sitting still won't let him beat the potentials of the boys out east. Although a barb city capture not shown actually makes him the farthest "out east" for as long as it take for Molach to capture it.
Kuro (manic, young) as Suleiman (Imp/Phi) of America (SEAL, Mall)
Kuro has made himself a respectably hard kill lately. That's good, because man do I wanna hit that empire. Look at all the green grass! Also look at the city settled on the gems and laugh, because seriously y'all these AI are weedy. Sully isn't bad...now is Philosophical's time to shine, and it seems like he's got room in the backline for more settlers. America...I doubt we'll see SEALs, but if we do, they rock. (Spoiler: We won't). I like this land, a lot. Must. Restrain. Urge. To. Conquer.
Molach (clever, cautious) as Napoleon (Org/Chm) of Inca (Quecha, Terrace)
Hellooooo game leader. Napoleon didn't leave Molach with much weed at all besides the occasional gold-settled-city. The cities of Inca are the biggest in the world with Chm happy and the cheapest with Org; not only that he's in a dream of perfect security on those rough borderlands. I'd jealous, really...and scared. Molach's shown perhaps inordinate caution at times but never gross incompetence. The game depends on where he goes-we move all on the tides of Inca.

How about something to do with changes of power? New King, Coup d'Etat, Revolution...I'm sure the list could stretch long, particularly if you add in specific examples.
Or you might try something to reflect your food sitch. Sahara, Gobi...

Welp, Molach is in the "win moar" phase. Can't really blame Ruff for selling this city though. Weedy AI barb city captures HAI!
I settled a little fishing village, and am 2t more away from getting the Colossus...so I expect Ruff finishes it in 2t. Because here in the Drylands, that's how things roll!
Just kind of spinning the wheel to see whom I shall strike.
