Adv60: Cheater Hater starts way too late

I decided to start this Sunday night on a whim, probably not my best idea tongue

I took a ton of pictures, which you can find here, but here's a short summary:
  • I knew I wanted to go Mao->Justin->Toku->Boud, but I started trying to attack Toku way too early since he and Mao signed a defensive pact while I was fighting the barbs
  • Techs were Industrialism->Biology->Artillery
  • Mao's conquest went well, especially when I figured out to just let the crossbows suicide on one unit at a time--Beijing captured on T315
  • Sent a couple transports of tanks towards Toku, but they were useless by themselves
  • Justin was way too annoying--Constantinople was impossible to wear down and I lost interest after suiciding a bunch of tanks around T325
I don't know if I'll go back to it--I was playing it really badly (forgetting to attack with air units mainly), and it was really a grind, but it was a good scenario and map--only exception was that you couldn't build water units on the lake by Sardis; was this intended, and why? I think going the long way around probably still would have been better since you dodge the mechs, but options are good.

You can't build water units on lakes with <10 tiles (with ten or more it becomes a sea). And I think you needed to hold the cities to turn 350 or when you capture the last one, whichever is earlier.
Okay Mansa, I'll take Printing Press for Liberalism. Now where did I put my cannons?

I think the lake needs to be 20+ tiles to build water units. It wasn't intentional not to in Sardis, but it was a nice puzzle - you needed to fort the workshop NE of Dariush Kabir to get your boats over there.

It sounds like tanks just weren't the right unit for this scenario (surprised me too!) and Bombers and Paratroopers were the way to go. Why did you go for Biology?

In one of my test games I had Boudica and Justin sign a def pact which meant I nearly lost Bactra when I attacked Justin!

I assumed that tanks would be best for since there so many units to chew through to get to Mao--though in the back of my mind I felt nukes would be the best overall since they clear the heavily entrenched forces best--also that tanks and nukes weren't mentioned in your game writeup wink

Biology was my attempt to stop the starving in my cities--of course in retrospect the obvious answer is to draft the top level of my cities away; I'd just been conditioned to think "drafting infantry=bad" frown
