And the start will influence our pick probably, ie if it has 2 fishes and an ivory I'd rather start with fishing. Did you follow PBEM68 before you left ? It uses 2.0.7.6 so I might mention it from time to time.

Yeah I noticed that in PBEM65. But I've been tempted by Julius for ages now, if I get the chance I want to take him.

OK, cool, I'll leave it to you then.

Julius and REX sure sound like the same thing to me.

This is the perfect Julius of HRE capital. Seriously you couldn't have done it (much) better even if you tried. Now I have to hope that the 8 other players don't take either Julius or HRE and I swear I'm taking them. My gut says I have to. And that's what this game is all about isn't it ?

Edit : Oh and thanks for making the map, I'm sure it will be amazing.

So the players (in pick order) are :

1. Grimace/Caledorn
2. Yuri
3. Borsche
4. Fenn
5. Wetbandit
6. Whosit
7. Dreylin
8. Jowy
9. AdrianAdrien/Mardoc

My second thought looking at this start is the incredible production out there : there are so many ways to build stuff. 2 +4 and 1 +6 food resource for whipping, but also 8 hills for mines and 11 forests for chops. Not counting the tiles with resources on them. The map looks like a prostitute tantalizing me "look at how much production I can give you, I know so many ways to give you production, see all those hammers you could have ?"

Doing a bit of spamming here :

Civs I think could/should be taken before HRE in the snakepick

India
Inca
Zulu
Aztecs

I expect those to be there. And um... I need some more so

Ottomans
Dutch because I love them
England maybe ? Also France I guess ? Maybe not actually.
China and Korea for the techs
Khmer for the fun
Byzantium ?
Carthage for a coastal start ?
Rome
Egypt ? War chariots are nice but they come too early for me.

I think the only civ that has literally no appeal to me is the natives. The dog soldier sucks against non melee and the Totem pole gives an experience bonus to units you rarely build, a bonus that will most likely never be used unless you're losing pretty badly.

Let's say that I'm cautiously optimistic. Julius may or may not be taken, I have no idea. Leaders are really balanced so it will depend on what people will want to play.

Looks like you've got things under control smile. More feedback...eventually. Figured the PBEM stuck on me was a higher priority when you're doing well here on your own

I guess swing position of the snake is generally a pretty good place to be. Synergy jive!

Zulu Maya Germany China, 4/8 done. India and Inca still up for grabs. I really want this combo, please just take India Inca Aztec and Mehmet and let me have it.

But what if you really really want to try the combo, but all the snake-picking jerks leave you with Inca and all Pro leaders still open?

Agriculture and mysticism are two techs that I don't need immediately (with fishing of course), I don't think the prospect of playing with terraces can balance that completely.
