If only you and me and dead people know hex, then only deaf people know hex.

I write RPG adventures, and blog about it, check it out.

Well, we'll try to win, and if we do there will be hearts taken...but the cult of Kali lost in the end.

Looks like a pretty good start. We'll need Agriculture for the wheat, Mining for the silver, and AH for the deer. Lots of production, decent commerce.

Now to decide on our picks! We're up first, so we can't dilly-dally too long or the natives will get restless.

Cal and I talked in chat, and I'm not going to paste it here.

We're going to shoot for JC of Zulu, with Zulu being the primary pick. If we don't get JC, we'll have to go to one of our backups. smile

Reporting in.

Final decisions have been made:
1. Grimace/Caledorn: Genghis Khan (AGG/IMP) of Zulu (Agr/Hun, Impi, Ikhanda)
2. Yuri: Catherine (CRE/IMP) of Maya (Min/Mys, Holkan, Ball Court)
3. Borsche: Zara (AGG/EXP) of Germany (Hun/Min, Kanone, Assembly Plant)
4. Fenn: Mao (EXP/PRO) of China (Agr/Min, Cho-Ku-Nu, Pavilion)
5. Wetbandit: Charlemagne (IMP/PRO) of Inca (Mys/Whe, Quechua, Terrace)
6. Whosit: Boudica (AGG/CHA) of Aztecs (Hun/Mys, Jaguar Warrior, Sacrificial Altar)
7. Dreylin: Mehmed II (EXP/ORG) of Russia (Hun/Min, Cossack, Research Institute)
8. Jowy: Ragnar (AGG/FIN) of Sumeria (Agr/Whe, Vulture, Ziggurat)
9. Adrian/Mardoc: Julius Caesar (IMP/ORG) of the HRE (Hun/Mys, Landsknecht, Rathaus)

Looks like the breakdown favors AGG and IMP this game:
AGG: 4
CHA: 1
CRE: 1
EXP: 3
FIN: 1
IMP: 4
ORG: 2
PRO: 2

No inustrious, philosophical, or spiritual. Maybe we should have gone industrious and indulged our builder side. smile

On the other hand, the combination of IMP + Cheap Ikhanda should allow us to grow fairly rapidly. Not as good as a rathaus, but available much earlier and gives us culture and unit XP too. Combined with a courthouse it's still a respectable 70% maintenance savings.

Lots of competitors for the early religion, as well -- 4 civs that start with Mysticism, though I'd be surprised to see Yuri or Wetbandit go for it right away given that they don't have a food-resource tech to start and that's almost always what you go for with your first worker. Also, I'm guessing no coastal starts with fish since there are no civs with Fishing.

Should be a good game any way you look at it! Build lots of cities and units and crush them before they crush us!

And we're off!

I settled in place, because why wouldn't we? Started building a worker while working the forested grassland hill deer (2f2h). Did not, however, move the scout yet or pick a tech because I don't think we fully decided whether to go AH or Mining.

I think we ought to go AH->Mining->BW...getting those deer online early is going to be important. The question is...is it more important than forest chopping 8 turns later?

Also, for scout movement, I favor 9-8. Go check out the water, then move clockwise around the capital. Thoughts?
