I think you're right not to kill yourself on the reports. Sirian and I both wrote shorter reports for this game, because at some point you need to spend less time writing and more time just playing the darn thing! Figure out what works best for you and go with it.
Interesting to go with Mining first on the research. I would have thought if you were going for a worker tech, Animal Husbandry would be the first one (?) Oh, Masonry beeline. Well - I stand by saying that Animal Husbandry might have been a better choice. The MINED pigs tile is very strange to see.
The tile management of Thebes seems very strange. I'm not sure why you didn't pasturize those pigs as soon as you got Animal Husbandry. Leaving it with a mine just seems like a real waste... as is the unmined copper tile. I mean no offense, just trying to point out where you might be able to improve things.
Quote:I was able to stay in it by going for expensive techs, getting them early, and then trading them for cheaper techs.
This is ultimately why we have limits on tech trading. Otherwise this would always be the best strategy in every game...
Wow, Qin really was the runaway civ. I'm so glad that he was slowed by wars in my game (although I did trigger several of those myself). The move to slow him in war certainly looks like it helped your overall position. I don't know if it slowed down your launch, or if the extra territory compensated for time spent in war. Regardless, I enjoyed watching someone else take it to him!
The endgame was just smooth and routine. Excellent work, especially in responding to the Spanish attack. Congrats on your win!
