Stasis

Stasis is one of those spells I never used and the last unmodded one where I don't even have a good idea on how to mod.

I read on the forum that it causes the AI to disband the units affected, is that still true for insecticide? I checked the code for AI disbanding and found no reference to this, units are disbanded if the AI can't pay the upkeep only...but it might happen elsewhere.

I also wonder about the cost. Temporarily stopping an enemy army sounds like an emergency measure, not something I would be able to pull off in time if it costs 250 mana.

Who uses Stasis? Is it any good? Any ideas for improvement?

Yes, Ai disband stasis unit in insecticide. It must do so, because units with low resist can not free from stasis.(regular swordsman)
Otherwise it must use disenchant area.
With more than 10 sorcery book stasis is not so dear.

If the unit is in a town or node and protecting it, it does not move. Disbanding it is a bad choice, stasis doesn't hurt those units.

It still does make the NU disbanded or useless. That makes Stasis quite useful. I've had a couple games where I enjoyed this spell (back in the original 1.31).
The "patience" is called "patience" because it needs about twenty minutes of patience.

I found where the AI disbands and neutralized it for my mod, and reduced the cost of the spell to 100.
Now it's a nice way to make the AI waste money on useless units, or to stop them from approaching until we gather our units to face them, not so much for getting free access to towns which definitely wasn't the intended functionality.
Maybe this makes it too weak? I hope not, at the very least stopping a powerful enemy stack from attacking a town not ready for it can be a lifesaver. At a cost of 100 you can even recast it to keep them from moving as long as necessary.
I believe we won't need to worry about the AI getting buried under upkeep either, as it disbands the weakest unit available if having money problems...and units with a resist of 5 or less are quire likely to be weak.

Firstly, a "powerful enemy stack" resists the spell mostly. The lack of chance is compensated by the amount of tries though.
