The leader of the RBO community has frequently argued that you should always max out the factories on the homeworld before doing anything else. Well, let's see what happens when that advice is thrown out the window!

Scenario Concept: Your Klackons are immensely proud of their evolutionary advantages; with many appendages, great strength, and precise coordination they are more productive than any other race. They have resolved to lord their superiority over the galaxy by eschewing the use of mechanical assistance.

Variant Rule: You may never allocate anything to the industrial slider on any world, thus no building factories. Your bugs are prideful but also pragmatic; they can use factories but don't want to be bothered building them. Thus you start with the normal number of factories on the homeworld, and are free to use factories captured during invasions.

A couple pieces of information - your planetology tech increases the production you get from population. You start at 1 per pop, and go linearly up to 4 at tech lvl 50 (other races get half of each of those values, of course). Thus Planetology research will be a direct boon to your economy, in addition to all the usual helpful goodies it gives. I imagine most experienced players know this already, but just wanted to make sure all on the same page.

The second came out in playtests - when you allocate extra to the Eco slider and the planet tops out on population, you get a message saying "the extra was placed in the reserve". However, it appears to be bugged and nothing is added to the reserve.

Finally, the game will automatically move production to the Industrial slider when you found a new colony, or finish a project on the Eco slider; keep those situations in mind to obey the variant rule. Sounds simple, but the sponsor managed to screw this up multiple times in early playtests, so don't take it for granted!

Scoring: None. You've got enough to worry about in this one!

Closing Day: Monday, December 15. Reports due by the end of December 16, your local time.
