Sponsor:
Sirian
Opening Date: Saturday, May 1
Duration: Three and a half weeks
Map Generation: Edited slightly
Civilization:
Mrrshan
Difficulty: Average
Galaxy Size: Large
Opponents: Five
Color: Green
Victory: Extermination is not permitted! (See the variant rules).
Scenario
Concept: Growl-hiss. We hate water! Or at least, too much of it. Water's
great to drink or hose down the shuttlecraft, but we don't want it on
our fur! No cold, damp, overly rainy climates. Snow is worse! Find us
some decent places to live, will you?
Variant
Rules: Player is to have no interest in Ocean or Tundra planets!
* Player
may not settle any Ocean planet, ever.
* Player may not settle any Tundra planet, unless another civ has transformed
it to a Minimal environment planet first.
* Player must leave orbit upon scouting any Ocean or Tundra planet, not
to return.
* No warfare may be conducted against Tundra or Ocean planets. We don't
care who lives there. Let them be. Don't even go there.
* Must win via the high council, so don't reduce the galaxy to one AI
civ or you lose! Don't lose in the high council, as Final War is not an
option for this event. We'd rather live under somebody else's rule than
have to go to some watery hellhole to fight for independence.
Scoring:
1 pts - each
year before 2600AD that you win the election. (eg: 2475AD = 125 pts).
1 pts - each planet you possess when the game ends.
5 pts - glassing
Altair, counts only once. (That'll teach those filthy Alkaris!)
5 pts - unanimous support - all 5 AI's survive, all but the opponent vote
for you to win.
10 pts -
mastering Orion
10 pts - researching any future tech (Advanced ??? Tech I, etc), counts
only once.
25 pts -
conquering the galaxy (you possess all except the ocean and tundra planets).
Results listed
by scenario points, as totaled from the above options.
Reporting:
Your game
summary must include the victory or loss date, your final number of systems
owned, and other relevant scoring info as shown above. If the game ends
suddenly and you haven't saved, reload from autosave and then save. You
may need the final saved game.
Losing players
can still score something. Please record your results if you play.
Comments: I wanted to try one edited map and see how that plays.
The potential to tailor scenarios for down the line is strong, but the
editing tasks are... involved. The map editing tools are less than perfect,
but functional. Savvy vets will be able to spot about half of my map edits
this time around. Hey, it may not look polished, but it should play OK.
I can do better to "hide" the edits with more work, but I wanted
to get this one going quickly, so there you go. Good luck with this event!
Closing Day: Monday, May 24. Reports due by May 25.
