Benedictine (BEN)
A quiet but not meek order of monks, the benedictines live simply to maintain their focus and detachment from the tempations of the world. Although they would rather remain in their cloisters, the great evil that is Diablo has required their participation in the Sin War.

The Benedictine may focus on might or magic in his fight. They have two distinguishing features:
i) they disdain jewelry, and will wear at most a single jeweled item (amulet or ring) instead of three.
ii) consider their backpack to be a small sack. The last four columns may never be used to carry items between games, although they may be used during a game to carry things to and from town.
Together these simple disciplines help maintain purity and focus.

Items: restrictions are few - they should use no crowns, cruel items (ruthless, savage, merciless), vain items (awesome, grand, fine), or prideful items (king's, master's, champion's, lord's).

They are particular about the use of shrines, praying at those only with nonrandom effects that will increase their knowledge or stats, or repair/ strengthen items. For respect to the shrines in in keeping with their vow of poverty, many Benedictives will leave gold at any shrine they use, as follows: Enchanted: 10,000 gold; Eerie/Abandoned/Quiet/Creepy: 2,500 gold; Hidden/Religious: 2,000 gold; Eldritch: 500 gold; Divine: 0; other: 100 gold.

The Benedictine may be considered more a role than a variant, and may be (dual-class with) any other variant.
