This lone figure gets the jobs *nobody* else wants. After all, somebody has to take on those black deaths and use the untouched shrines... He relies not on stats or much equipment, but his own skill and faith to get the job done.

Exorcist (EXO)

Purpose: To rid the fair city of Tristam from the foulest scourges present: Black Deaths, Hiddens, and Balrogs.

Methods: He learns his offensive spells from shrines: Holy Bolt from Ornate, Firebolt from Fascinating, Charged Bolt from Sacred, and jumps at the chance to use Goat Shrines and Cauldrons to beat these nasties with their own power sources. In fact he loves all shrines but one- Tainted, and encourages his coop partner to use it to destroy its power. He must try to max out these spells by use of the shrines, and will use HB/FB/CB vs. Black Deaths, Hiddens, and Balrogs, respectively, along with Guardian. Should the Exorcist ever see a Golem, he must exorcise (destroy) it immediately. He is also known for trying to shoot down Bone Spirits and Elementals with Holy Bolts. There is one other key opponent for the Exorcist: King Leo. On entering or learning of an infested level, the Exorcist should invoke a suitable chant/warcry.

Spells: He may learn no other offensive spells, may not read the above spells from books, and may learn Town Portal, Mana Shield, Heal, Heal Other, Teleport, Phasing and Stone Curse from books he finds - he may never buy books. There is one exception to the offensive spell list - Guardian (which relies on firebolt spell lvl, and is a helpful creature which willingly chooses to aid the Exorcist) may be used if found. Exorcists will gladly accept a gift of a Book of Guardian from another player. Important: If the Exorcist is called into a game specifically to rid a level of BD/Hidd/Rogs, he may accept as payment a Book of Fire Bolt, Charged Bolt or Holy Bolt, or an Elixir.

Staves: Non-offensive spells are allowed from a staff, as are Guardian and Flame Wave. If a plentiful or bountiful staff of Holy Bolt, Firebolt or Charged Bolt is found, it too may be used. Arch-angels staves of any type (other than Bone Spirit, Elemental and Golem are allowed. Otherwise, offensive spells are not to be cast from a staff.

Equipment/Items: Life stealing items (Bat, Blood, Leech, Vampire) are disallowed. Only the Holy Helm of Sprits may be used to sustain life in this fashion.
Given the cost taken by the use of his favorite shrines, Dragon's, Drake's and similar items soon become crucial for the Exorcist. Any weapon/shield/staff may be used, although +mana or +magic are preferred.

Unique items: as long as it does not involve possession or creating things from stone, any artifacts are allowed. Specifically, Demonspike Coat, Hellslayer, Doombringer, etc., are fine, while Rod of Onan, Torn Flesh of Souls are not. Mindcry and Thinking Caps are favorites.

Enemies: Note that Black Deaths are found on dlvls 3-5, the Hidden family on dlvl 2-10, and Balrog type monsters on 12-15. Bosses: Soulpus and Rotfeast Zombies are on lvl 2, Goretongue (Rotting Corpse) and Rotcarnage (Ghoul) are on lvl 3. Warpskull (Hidden) is on 3, Windspawn(Vortex Lord), Gorefeast and Blackskull (Balrog) is on 13.

Interaction: The Exorcist may be a dual-class with Cleric, Paladin, Holy Avenger or any suitable variant. He should make his presence known on b.net to others in games so that he may be called into service should an infested level be found.
