The Ranger Subclass (RNG) Weapons: The Ranger specializes in the bow, but when the foes get too close may carry sword to defend himself. No staff is allowed. Rangers who pride themselves on toughness will use only a dagger or their fist for self defense, but those who take on particularly tough opponents may use any weapon (but no shield). Shields: Not allowed Helms and Amor: Almost any are allowed. High AC is of prime value for the Ranger (a challenge without a shield). Rangers will not find themselves wearing Rags, Cloaks or Robes. Spells: What need have Rangers of spells? The following are allowed: Heal, Heal Other, Town Portal, Phase, Teleport, Stone Curse, Telekinesis. They may also use Flash, Charged Bolt, Flame Wave and Fire Wall, ONLY on adjacent creatures. The Ranger loves recon, and will liberally use Elemental, Guardian and Bone Spirit (magic & mana permitting). Scrolls, Shrines/Cauldrons: any Items: no restrictions on prefixes, suffixes, as long as base is allowed. Some Rangers prefer to be able see extremely well and use +light radius, others prefer not to be seen, and enjoy -light radius items. Unique items: all are allowed if the base item is, but particular favorites with the ranger are the unique bows, the Protector and Defender (for self defense), and Gotterdamerung. Item recovery: the savvy Ranger will use Stealth Mode and/or telekinesis. In particularly bad circumstances, and only after trying normally, the Ranger may use any means necessary to recover his issued gear (including shield, offensive spells). Gifts and co-op: Rangers enjoy adventuring with other characters (Fellow Warriors, rogues who share a love for the bow, and both Artillery and Tank Sorcerers). They may accept gifts, but only if they are of a level they could possibly get the items themselves (eg Swiftness at 8th level, Windforce if they've been to 9th dungeon level...). At any time they would welcome a gift of a book of Teleport, Flash, Stone Curse, etc., and help to read such classics. Titles: Stingray, Harpoon, and Phoenix are the nicknames for those achieving the first, second and third dot. Tips: for recovery of items, the . A Ranger should also have several bows available, depending on the situation (eg, of Burning, Swiftness, Emerald would be a nice set).
