A rare breed of fighter that seeks to grow fit and strong beyond normal standards. By some he is called a glutton for punishment, by others, the protype 'damage sponge'. Not necessarily a cautious fighter, the GFP frequently will charge into battle and allow himself to be surrounded for the thrill of fighting his way out. There are several slightly different paths he will take but they share common features...

Sumo Wrestler - the wrestler will not wield any weapon, but use his fists and raw strength to bring death upon his foes. The wrestler tends to allocate most points to strength. (Female warriors who choose this path tend to go for Dex and are sometimes referred to as Flamingoists ;-]

Health Nut - vitality and hit points are supreme, and this will reflect itself in lvl up distribution, and eventually in a love for items of the mammoth and whale, and jewelry of the lion or tiger. His goal is to take a 600 pt fireball blast in the back from a friendly mage (by accident), and even without resistances, to be answer 'Yikes, sorry!', with 'Hey, no problem at all. Nothing a half-red can't fix'.

Damage Sponge - this glutton for punishment gives high preference to items which will help him absorb even more punishment, -dfe items such as the Scavenger's Carapice, Helm of Absorption (or Gotter in melee), etc. Resistance items are also very important.

Beyond Naked Sumo (BNGFP) - the rarest form of Sumo likes to actually receive the most pain he can, and will do what he can to allow monsters to hit him. Favorite items would include a UN-identified Carapice (AC -8, no benefits), items of Tears, and in general, very low AC items. (total AC modifier would ideally be single digits or negative). He will do the BN Streak if he finds an item of corruption.

Common features - high hit points and dealing out damage quickly are important to the Sumo, a love for furball battles, and a stronge desire to take the point position when co-oping. You will *never* hear a sumo yell "hey! be careful" to his partners. Rather, a typical hotkey when playing with a rogue wielding a Savage Bow of Thunder would be "Hmmm... seems to be a mosquito buzzing around here..." It would be very rare to find a Sumo who also had high AC. Two handed weapons are not uncommon for these warriors, as they will only use a shield if it has absorption or +hit point properties.
