[PB69] Naufragar turns over a new leaf. Randomly.

I think that is a bit harsh Krill. I imagine Nauf just saw Pin hadn't ended turn and assumed he hadn't played yet. It is an understandable mistake.

Nauf, while I understand you don't want to replay combat, you did gain an advantage here: some of pindis units effectively didn't get to move this turn.

+1. Would recommend taking a walk. Nobody is trying to screw you here, promise. There's just no way to allow this.

Would also ask you to consider if you really think you gained no advantage, why are you so opposed to a reload? Didn't you also get poor RNG that would be nice to roll again?

I think you are going too hard after Nauf here and I for one hope he keeps playing here for many years. I think this was clear case of reload and assumed that Nauf had just missed Pindi in tech thread. If you want 1st half of timer I think that's negotiable as Pindi has already said it's ok. We can reload to that and let you play your turn before Pindi.

Finished your thread nauf. I thought you played a fantastic game and overcame your terrain disadvantages wonderfully. Apostolic Palace probably doesn't get enough credit here because everybody gets the benefit, but the real power is in getting other people to spread your religion for you which turns into your shrine making BANK. So well done in pursuing that strategy. (I only went Paper as early as I did because I knew you would run away with things if you got all three of the religious wonders.)

Sorry about how things ended. Hitru was correct that I really did not mind which side of the turn split you took and I would have taken a reload to either side. Perhaps I should have expressed that clearer in my PM back to you.

Hope to see you again in another game soon.

Hey Naufragar.

I finished your thread a while ago and would have commented then, but I was enjoying my Civ IV and Realms Beyond vacation too much. Now Pitboss 74 is starting so this is the last chance to comment about Pitboss 69 so here I go.

About the ending reload controversy, I agree with the consensus against you, but it seems to me that there was more going on in the background for you too. There was a general malaise about the game that you felt and mentioned earlier in this thread, and the events of that last turn must have seemed like someone else's PYFT problems screwing with your war declaration plans yet again. That wasn't actually the case since Pindicator saw your units with a Sentry Knight, but you didn't know that.

I hope that someday you will feel happy about playing again and come back. You are such a fun player to have around. smile.

Even one bash was too much for me. I hold no grudges from Pitboss 45 because I have no memory of Pitboss 45. It was a total embarrassment for me and ignorance is bliss.

About killing that Scout, I was pretty sure it would cause no long-term diplomatic trouble with you (and it didn't), and I thought it would be better for my neighbors to have less information rather than more information at that stage of the game. Also, I remember trying to non-lethally scare your Scout away with my Chariot first.
Something like Gin-guelito's razing of Old Giedi Prime might be vindication of my decision to commit Scout murder. Their Scout came and looked around, found your city, found your units, and then they used that information to come with a Chariot and raze your city. Something like that was the nightmare scenario for me.

It was interesting to read a narrative of yours in which I was a character. In my thread, I reported we were doomed to fight because after the conquest of Gin-guelito you still needed to expand and attacking me was a better choice than attacking Commodore, the only other possible target for you. In your thread, you reported we were doomed to fight because I was safe from everyone else and you were the only hope to bring me down.

About the first capture of Iago, I did that with a Morale unit I promoted that turn and brought all the way from Joker. Miguelito just didn't notice that possibility. Moving fleeing units so they were unnecessarily still in danger also happened because he just didn't notice that possibility, and it happened a few more times.
I love that turn in context of the finished game, by the way. Everything might have been different if that turn was different. Excellent alternate history fodder. I wish we could do that for multiplayer Pitbosses like we can for AI Survivor.

I admit to being disappointed the angst QOTM was not actually about me. cry.

Your pang of conscience about the Spanish "Knight" was unnecessary because I figured it out before doing anything that turn. I thought it was hilarious.

Overall, I enjoyed reading your perspective on the Hate Triangle. It is unfortunate that we both reported so little about the period between me triumphing and conquering Gin-guelito and you in turn triumphing and conquering that part of me about 40 turns later. Nice comeback by you.

Remember when you captured Joker and assumed I retreated because I simmed? Well, I assumed you had put your Cannons in attack position because you simmed! rolf. The player who's winning is supposed to be the one invested enough to sim, right?

Lastly, I was absolutely not planning to betray you or Commodore in the Final Dogpile. I was honestly committed to the cause. However, we miscommunicated because we were always double-turning each other, so it was never certain which turn the countdown message was sent on. I thought the plan was to attack Turn 233, not Turn 232. I remember trying to clarify this by sending two countdown messages, one for each turn of my double-turn, but I might have sent that only to Commodore and not to you too. Repeating diplomacy turn after turn was tiring. And about why I was not positioned to join with you and move in together, well, part of it was that it caught me by surprise when you came my way and not Commodore's way. I didn't reconsider my tactics and just defaulted to the old solo plan and route, at least for the initial declaration. I was not thinking as hard about the game as the rest of you at the end. Also, I had more recent intelligence from Pindicator's lands than you, and I was pretty sure he didn't have much of an army in The Valley of the Shadow of Superdeath, and had it in his core, so I thought we would be alright to go in separately and regroup in time. That might have been wrong about having enough time to regroup before Cavalry came, but again, I was not thinking too hard about it by the end.

Overall, another great game and great thread, and again, I hope that you'll be back again someday, just like Frosty the Snowman. thumbsup.
