Imperium 21 - Resting on our Laurels

At long last, Imperium 21 is up and running! In spite of my initial mistake, the official page now displays the correct screenshots, even! (Thanks, Griselda!)

While events won't be an issue in the early going, the semi-random decisions of the AIs will have a significant impact (as always) on the outcome of the game, and in this case, the single-minded dedication (or lack thereof) with which you pursue the highest possible score will have a major impact as well. So, whether it's a Gentle Imperium or Extreme Imperium or something in between is to some degree up to you.

Interesting, I like the idea of pushing events back so they won't be so make-or-break. Of course, playing on a small map increases each event's impact as well...unless of course we can the galaxy before then.

Very true. I had planned to turn off events entirely, but decided against it since they couldn't possibly affect the first-in-a-field tech points if sufficiently delayed, and likewise shouldn't be overwhelmingly game-changing if they take long enough to happen. (Yes, they can still be game-changing, since it's still a small galaxy, but not to as great a degree.)

Heh! What I should have done was to provide a scoring bonus for winning the game before the first event occurs!

Oh, and: Game complete! I did manage to generate this map without resorting to ALT-GALAXY or spoilered editing, so I'll be able to post a non-spoiled sponsor's report, in the tradition of Sullla's Imperium 10 & 11, and of course the older tradition of Sirian. (I also came up with the scoring system before I played the game). I had a whole lot of fun on this map, so I hope everyone else does the same!
