MOO Installation Help

I just downloaded DosBox and MOO, and DosBox is telling me that I have to run INSTALL.exe before running Orion. However, when I try to run INSTALL.exe, the game can't recognize my mounted drive as the source of floppy disks. If, when installing, I tell it to look in the file that has the simulated "disk 1", it'll properly install disk 1, then give up. Or it'll tell me to insert disk 1 to drive "*", and then give up. Not sure what to try and do.

I'm running Vista, dual-core.

Depends upon your download. From Jon Sullivan's site you can download the game pre-installed (moo_all.zip) or the install disks (moo_disks.zip). Note that ORION.EXE will ask you to run INSTALL.exe not just for install to hard disk but also if you do not have valid CONFIG.MOO file. Use INSTALL.exe options for setting up mouse & sound card for this. You also need to create save files from within game before replacing by eg Imperia saves. Good luck.

Well, I got it working (without sound).

Here's what I had to do, for future Vista users:
Note: I had downloaded both the "all files" and the "disks" version.
Put all of the disk image files in the same folder (I'm not sure if this was necessary, but it didn't hurt).
Mounted that folder by doing "mount a c:\filepath -floppy"
Mounted the MOO folder with "all files" as drive e (any hard drive letter will do)
Ran e:\mpscopy a:\ e:\
Then, once that finished, the game loads.

Glad to hear you got it up and running! I have sound currently working on mine (in Dosbox under XP) but I'm not sure how or why; the sound has long been a mystery to me.
