Moving after shooting - is this an exploit?

You are able to move after you shoot, as long as you click on the map while the shooting animation is playing. This can sometimes let your bombers completely avoid missiles, or let you dance around enemy ships with a maneuverability of 1, and get free shots at them. I just wonder if this is considered an exploit or not?

True. I haven't included it on the exploits list (I documented it back in Imperium 13, and dathon felt it was definitely an exploit) because it (generally speaking) isn't overwhelmingly powerful or cheesy.

A related practice is sticking a single 2-rack of nuclear missiles on a gunship for maneuvering purposes: By turning off the missiles, you can shoot-then-move without the need to quick-click during the animation. I don't use this trick anymore, but I liked to imagine it as an unbooked "special" system: "Emergency Boosters: Takes up a Weapon slot instead of a special slot; allows maneuvering after firing. Miniaturizes as a weapon."

The point of "Emergency Boosters" though is that it requires preplanning and at least some type of trade-off. Quick-clicking doesn't fit in at all with the rest of this turn-based game, so I'm definitely inclined to discourage it, but I just don't feel it's a big enough deal to justify making the exploit list any longer than it already is. (If others disagree though, please chime in!)

I would NOT classify this as an exploit because as RefSteel says it is not overwhelmingly powerful or cheesy. While it can be useful (and I use it whenever it is helpful) it is also very limited. Even with careful planning before giving orders to fire it is still difficult to move the mouse and click before the ships are done firing (although splitting weapons into multiple banks helps with this) and I have moved my ships badly by clicking too hastily on many occasions. Thus the usefulness of this tactic is questionable at best, especially when it comes to avoiding missiles as you are only allowed a single linear movement and cannot do any true dodging.
On the other hand one could argue that it IS an exploit simply because the AI will NEVER move ships after firing weapons, and if anyone could do so it is the AI. Still it is hardly a game breaking feature.
