OK so I lied. Even though we will be dead very soon I just inherited turn playing duties and even now there's stuff I want to report on. I'll report on T276 later today.
In the meantime thanks for all the support!

Perhaps the last (somewhat) meaningful turn that we'll get to play.
Dave hasn't been updating me on what the situation is in-game so I'm in the dark logging in. And what do I see:
Wow we still have quite a few mainland cities!
Sadly REM is in a position to take all 3 southern mainland cities next turn, leaving us with just Peaks and No Copper. Except that mackoti declared war on us last turn and moved a stack in to take Peaks when he logs in, and is probably moving into position to take our island as well. So next turn we should be playing OCC and we probably won't even make it to t280.
Well if mackoti declared on us then I have no issues taking the fight back to him. We still have 2 EI in the north that can harass mackoti, so I sail off to pillage some seafood.
He had a Frigate covering the clam but through sheer determination we defeat it (at the totally reasonable cost of half our fleet). Surprisingly, we got a 3rd GG from it which makes it totally worthwhile. It even spawned on Copper Island, anywhere else would've made it difficult to use, but we got pretty lucky there. Hopefully we don't die this turn so I can pillage some more seafood.
REM will probably ask for peace next turn after taking 3 cities, but if he wants me to free him from having to play 1st in the timer then he'll have to make it worth my while (150 gold or so would probably be enough). Seriously doubt he'll go for it though. We also didn't have a chance to use the GE we have, so he's still sitting in NC waiting for the end. Seriously tempted to rush Shwedagon Paya next turn for maximum hilarity factor, although at this stage it probably isn't worth it (don't have enough time to distract from all rifles all the time) so I'll have to be boring and delete it. The GG will probably go as a super defender for Copper Island. Seems appropriate as a unit to make a final stand with.
I have 1 final ace up my sleeve that I plan to reveal next turn. It's nothing game changing (it has just as much global significance as rushing Shwedagon Paya) but in terms of exiting with a bang I don't think anyone could top it. What could it possibly be I wonder?

I was going to settle the GE to help get rifles out of NC this last turn. I think that would be a tad better than deleting him
Let's not take peace with REM. All that whipping and drafting has got to have him running a fair amount of unhappiness. Since he's the person who destroyed us, let's keep him trapped on the first half of the timer and let him keep the WW.
Surprise naval strike from No Copper on Mack's west coast cities?

The problem with settling is that whoever captures the city will then have a city with a settled GE in it. We will only get less than 5 turns out of it, which isn't worth giving the boost to mackoti for the rest of the game. Shwedagon Paya was considered specifically because it's useless.
Good point re:no peace with REM.

Yep we're playing OCC now. Time to squeeze as much juice as we can out of every little detail.
Opened the game to see REM offering a blank peace treaty. Let's see if I can find the appropriate response from up-thread... Ah, here it is.
In the north, mackoti didn't counterattack my EI, so I went pillaging some more. Minimal damage to mackoti but it gives me a chance to spam the smiley so it's entirely worthwhile.
There's a Privateer in fairy dragon though, so if I want to pillage the 3rd seafood I need to win a coin-flip.
We actually still hold a piece of the mainland!
Glitches count, right?
Back to the war zone, mackoti had a Frigate bombing No Copper which I don't like, but I only have 1 EI and 2 galleys around so need to get a bit lucky. The EI loses but redlines the Frigate enough for the galley to finish the job. (insert spear vs tank joke here)
I had money to burn, so I upgrade both galleys to EI to give us a stronger naval presence.
And yeah, that's pretty much everything that can be reported on. Not much to do when you only have 1 city. Deleted the settler, and I'm going to hold onto the GE to test how much mackoti pays attention (and see if I can buy a turn from imminent death from him).

As the sun began to set on the once glorious Mapmaker’s Fault empire, the people looked back over their life and began to reflect on their decisions that led them to this point and the regrets they had. There were plenty of errors in empire management leading up to this point, but hindsight is 20-20 so the people weren’t really regretful of their predicament. No, the major regret left behind was, surprisingly, the name chosen for their empire.
Blaming the mapmaker for anything that goes wrong is a trademark staple that all the cool kids at RB do. But to be completely frank, the map was brilliant and our empire doesn’t have a single complaint about it. Especially when considering the pre-game circumstances, it was quite odd for their largest regret to be undeserved blaming of the mapmaker.
While outright forgiving the mapmaker was out of the question (we are talking about undoing centuries of cultural practices after all), it was at this point that we decided to give Mardoc a chance to prove himself. A Great General and a Rifle was sacrificed to bring the higher being into this world.
His challenge is to defend the last stronghold of RMOG, the Crimson city of No Copper, until the end of time. If he succeeds, he will be recognized as the almighty being and hero that he deserves and our empire will be renamed in his honor. If he falls, then it will be recorded in history that everything was the Mapmaker’s fault after all. Since he was the omniscient being who brought us all into this world though, surely the task would pose absolutely no challenge to him at all... right?

Well played Mardoc... I could never have predicted that you would guarantee our survival by ending the game immediately, but I can recognize when I've been outplayed. Sorry dave, but if the game does end I'm going to have to change our naming scheme.
In all seriousness I'm kinda hoping that we can play until our elimination, but since we now have the least at stake in all this I don't think it's fair for me to object. Plus it's not exactly easy to replace mackoti if he really does want to call it.

If Mackoti is able to play on, I'm happy to continue, but if he can't, I agree it probably ought to be called. Though I would be hesitant to say that for sure until Plako weighs in. I definitely don't want to be doing 1-2T a week. I'll never remember to play my turn if that happens.
I don't see a sub being a realistic solution on a number of levels.
I know. It seems a shame to call the game in its current state but I don't think there is much point replacing mackoti even if we could find another
GG all
Well that pretty much settles it then.
All hail Mardoc!
Time to go see how much the other teams thought we were smoking.

It was a pleasure to team up with you again WK
Thanks for bringing me out for one last ride.
To Scooter, Sullla, Nic, REM, Mackoti, Plako, and Alhazard. Thank you all for a great pitboss. I thoroughly enjoyed this game, and it was really nice to have such a drama free game.
I wish you all a wonderful holiday season and best of luck in the new year
