Final
Turn (142)
Really the game was over for me when I lost Rose. So how did I get there...
-I tried to chase 2 great people, and due to several mistakes did not get either.
-After going for just the great prophet I slotted the wrong card and ended up throwing chance at the first cheap one.
-I took a gamble with getting those 2 great people as well as settling outside of my nice defensive area. I needed a luxury and founding creator lake city would have been a better call with my small army.
-Settling towards Alhambram was just a bad idea until wars where declared. His 20+ turns of movement got him to me in no time
-Not sure I could have changed much after that. Making peace with Persia never seemed like the right option. I thought either he would redeclare war on me or go and take Armagh, which would have just tightened the noose a bit more.
-Without diplomacy it would have been impossible to ensure that his attention would turn towards the Duke at any given time.
Any other comments are welcome.
Thoughts on PBEM in general
I must say it is a completely different type of game compared to regular MP. Quicker games allow for more risk based on the fact that if it fail I can concede and start another one. However my decision's put me in a bad spot which I had to try and keep my spirits up for another 60 or so turns.
Each time I opened the save it was intense. To any one considering playing one of these games each turn has an impact. There really is no telling what will show up when the 'start game' button is pressed.
Thanks Suboptimal, TheArchduke, and Alhambram for playing a good game. Looking forward to PBEM 8!!!
