PB81 - Continental Drifters (TBS)

I do think that eventually cottage economy still wins pure eco fight eventually, but specs eco hits earlier and has also good GP base to do some tricks. Also we did not run out of wonders etc, which might happen in larger game. So I don't think we have proven that spec eco is always better than going for cottages.

Late game cottages can get to 2/1/7 tiles, a late game bio farm can support a 2/6 scientist, that also contributes gpp. Given the time that has to go into growing cottages, I think it should be the clear best tile at full strength.

It's similar with the workshop, it can reach 2/4 in the late game with State Property, that feels like it should be the best hammer tile in the game but a bio farm supporting an engineer is better.

I think Emancipation at 1h would be better at least.

Those simple 3/0/0 farms look somewhat sad but it's still an incredible city.

I agree emancipation feels too strong and the main problem IMO is how flexible it is as you can get everything you need out of it and chabge priorities between gokd, beakers and hammers relatively easy. Agree that emancipation to +1 hammer is a good start to nerf it.

This is the first game its looked good. A LOT of it is just that you guys were so far ahead. Almost anything you chose would have been fine. The other factor is that they were already on a specialist path, which isn't normally as good / as viable of a strat (IE blame America for free mids). From personal experience most people avoid Democracy because its not on any of the relevant tech paths IF IF IF you have multiple people close together. The last two times people tried going Democracy too early they died.

As a lurker I was hoping that Mjmd + naufragar would have found a mutual interest in putting pressure on you. With Mjmd's land advantage that could have been a nice challenge, but I guess that was not meant to be.. 

I've never played CtH, so I did not realize that Emancipation provides hammers in this mod. I'm sure you would have had time in this game to setup a bunch of workshops and mines, but as Hitru writes, it sounds like current emancipation makes a specialist economy a little too comfortable. I guess in a tighter game, going for Democracy could be more painful/risky, which would be the main reason for not nerfing the civic.
