Dodo Tier Player Commodore Wrote:It's a hard choice what to do next turn. I'll strike out to try and kill Kyan's warrior, then it's a question of dry-whipping a warrior to survive another useless turn or giving the unearned city to Kyan. Thing is, as unearned as it is, a second free city might be the only thing that makes the game interesting to watch for the lurkers, otherwise Ceil has this made. I wonder what would have happened if Kyan had won the capital and I got to keep the 3 workers... might have been interesting. Commodore Wrote:Might have been a mistake to make it in this format. I have issues with how insanely close this map is, but the other issue is pretty obvious upon reflection; Kyan and I have both had to risk our games on middling-odds gambles, because we each got double-teamed...whereas I assuming Ceil and Dazed have not, because abutting GE they have one flank auto-secure. Well, yeah. GE actually had the rival best power for a long time, but by the time they could reach my land I had axes. For what it's worth, GingerEagle got double-choked by me and Dazed... and dispatched the aggressors in VERY convincing style. He built like 6 warriors back-to-back (leading to his size 7 capital) and told us to GFO! Commodore Wrote:Kyan (Machiavellian, Impressive) : Hammurabi of Ethiopia (Hunting/Mining) This is awesome. Thank you Commodore Wrote: Commodore Wrote:The only exploitable weakness I see is a definite lack of confidence, and an unwillingness to take excessive risk. Metagame hint: Those are not easy weaknesses to try and capitalize on. Kind words, thank you Commodore. I hope I put that last bit to bed. I have to say, you could have taken your settler and 2 workers 1 tile further E (on the wooded hill), settled the city and beaten the choke. I feel like that particular risk was unnecessary and far too reckless. When you had a warrior at our choke at t14, why on earth didn't he proceed into my blob? Ceiliazul Wrote:Well, yeah. So, that's defintiely some luck too. Ceiliazul Wrote:I have to say, you could have taken your settler and 2 workers 1 tile further E (on the wooded hill), settled the city and beaten the choke. Alas, I thought of that only after moving them, and as it wasn't a misclick but rather weed, really couldn't justify a replay. The warrior thing, I didn't move it in for nervousness about Kyan. I figured if he was the victor of the battles around his own cap, there was a good shot of him coming at me with the well-promoted victor(s). Which was right, naturally, but an underestimation of you. Note to all future warrior chokers: the official Commodorian position is now to react with extreme violence and attempt to murder you ASAP.
