Fun random thoughts on games

I've been gone for 2 years. Lost my hard drive about 2.4 years ago when I got married and had to buy a new one and lost my games/save files etc.

Started up again, and decided to beat every race on tiny/impossible/5 guys. Had my earliest win ever with Human on 2351 (I hadn't even met any races!).

The game that was the most fun though, was a Darloc 3PE where every other race had 1-3 planets except the Silicoid which had (16?, whatever the amount is that gets the message "leaders are preparing to merge"). The reason I didn't lose that game, was because the entire galaxy hated the Silicoids and were at war with them (except me). They got 60% of the vote just by themselves every 25 years. I kept stealing tech from the Silicoids and was able to keep up. Eventually the Silicoids wiped everyone else out, but by that time I had the tech to make Small Omega's and just started wiping out all their colonies until I won. smile (In 2630-EDIT)

I really enjoy playing on Tiny. There seems to be a lot of luck though based on the map (no starting settlement within 3 parces, or only 1 within 6, even after the expansion) and it is pretty tough. I think I went 1-3 with Silicoids and they are my best race. Not surprisingly Psilons went 1-0.

I hope some more imperiums get started soon. I might shadow game the ones I missed.

A Tiny/5P map is distorted, due to the large number of home systems that will be on the map. The game selects suitable home planets and then makes them Terran, and 5 of those on such a small map screws with the distribution of systems.

I just started playing MoO1 after watching Sullla play it on Twitch. Won my very first game, which was with the Psilons on impossible. Then lost about the next 5 games as the Alkari on impossible. Many a rage-quit.

But now I have a game as the Alkari that is actually going pretty well. Although I was disappointed to not have inertial stabilizer in my tech tree, and I was also disappointed to find that I would not be able to fit a mass driver on a small hull for a long time.

But, I did get the warp dissipator, so my plan is to slow down neighboring Darlok death spore death fleets with those and whittle them down with missile bases.

Aaaaaaaaaand of course, my best world gets hit with the nova event....
