Yeah, it seems that alot of mechanics are hard to translate from SP to MP. But oh well, SP and MP tech trading is totally different. Civ5 MP combat is totally fine, it does become about translating your production base into a large an army as possible, and using it to grind against the enemy until you've broken their back (unlike Civ5 SP combat, which is about babying a core of ridiculously overpromoted superunits through hordes of gibbering idiots).
Something that's unclear, does each pop point still give 1 beaker?

I get the feeling that 1UPT makes a lot more sense as a mechanic with changes in Civ 6 with districts being improvements on tiles that can be pillaged as well as with workers not being permanent units with unlimited use.
Would really be nice to find out more about mp though.

Casus belli also seem to affect the war weariness generated in your cities. Valid reason for war = lower war weariness. At least, that's my understanding from following the developers on reddit and streams. So there's another use for them other than influencing the AI's opinion of you. War weariness is also inherently higher in conquered cities.
I believe it's been observed that each pop point generates 0.7 science and 0.3 culture.
And somewhat unrelated, but to clarify how capturing cities is handled: if an opponent refuses to cede cities to you in a peace deal, you still keep them, but they are "occupied" and cannot grow (and seem to have reduced yields, unsure of the specifics there, but growth appears to be flat-out halted). I believe you either have to completely destroy the Civ or get them to "cede" them to you via diplomacy (usually during peace treaty negotiations) for them to become fully-functioning cities.

I am delighted to hear that! That's exactly how it should work.

I get the sense that they ether don't care about MP at all or like me only consider FFAs to be "real" because the game is built for SP which is FFA so duels and teamers are just silly mods. Soren wanted to hide the problem of people dropping because they are losing by promoting them but that's just silly. Just don't allow people who cannot take the heat and drop out. It's not a mistake that Civ5 MP's name is "No Quitters". Banhammer! Beach's card games also rely on people not dropping.

Best thing ever.
