Dreylin Blues 2000 is on (another) mission from Cod

Mjmd completed Oracle, well done. He didn't take Iron Working, but I forgot to check Metal Casting; either that or Maths, I suppose.

Open Borders offer from Ginger which I accepted. Then got this:

Of course Our Fish Means Death, so probably best I don't have it hooked up yet. Not sure on the protocol, but maybe don't want neighbours to see? I rejected, and re-proposed. noidea

Ljubljana also offered OB; I rejected initially, but then decided to send back; I have a Scout on his border after all.

Speaking of Scouts, Mighty Mack has slipped through the greenline cordon:

Reinforces the priority to get these borders fixed.

And Jake has reached the Western Ocean:

I'm not sure if I've missed Naufagar's other neighbour to the North of here, but right now he's going to keep heading South where I know someone is located.

Well that was the right call:

Superdeath knows everyone except Ginger. I guess I don't need to worry about his reputation until we're at Astronomy. He has Writing, so I go ahead and propose OB.

Mjmd didn't take MC, and Confucianism didn't fall either so Maths or Monarchy. Guess I'll keep an eye out for their next revolt.

Bit of exploring, bit of home planning, bit of micro. Have a couple of cottages going at Cod now; Trout is working one, but the other got whipped off to finish the Gems Settler. "Clownfish" will be settled next turn and can pick up duty while waiting for the Gems to be mined. It's going to take a while to get going since Cod is going back to growing, and won't be able to share the Corn for a few turns.

Haddock also whipped a Settler this turn to head SW. Still vacillating about where to settle, but I might move it to the Western spot and wait for the border pop to gain Cows ... would slow down an already slow city, but might be better in the long run.

I saw greenline's Vulture heading towards a convenient sentry hill overlooking the food desert; I have a pair of Chariots in the area if he gets any ideas about getting too close.

I've started the run to Iron Working, but may need a pause later as costs are going up again.

I know I had things to say about these pictures when I grabbed them this morning, but now I just can't remember.

Something greenline:

Hook up Copper and build more units, maybe?

A few more coherent thoughts about this:

I eventually decided to go for the marginal orange dot location; the main reason for this is that it stops greenline from planting a city on the plains hill S of the Chariot, and esp. if he plants on the Vulture hill it restricts him from an advance city in this area. The city itself will be poor in the short term and eventually upgrade to mediocre, but the value of fixing the borders is what it's here for.

It will work the pfh for a fast Monument while the Worker finishes the connection and then chops the adjacent hill into the Granary and then Mines. One of the Workers from Clownfish will shift down this way in time to improve the Cows.

Haddock stored the overflow in a Settler and has switched to a Barracks while regrowing. That Settler is for the Corn spot and will be whipped ASAP. After that it will complete the Barracks and start to put out a few units. Cod also stored overflow and is building another Warrior while regrowing for the whip. That Settler is aimed West for 9tiles to secure the rest of the greenline border.

The South has ... developed:

I don't think he will have seen my borders before he planted, so this might be a nasty surprise for him. I had my Chariot in the forest NE of the Wheat, and I have moved it away to keep things friendly. The revealed Warrior could be a problem though if he is targeting that tile to settle - in that case I cede the Wheat, move the Cows city 1S and prioritise settling the revised spot in the food desert. If instead he plants 1N of the Cows with the Wheat 2nd ring then I have to weigh my options.

I'd prefer not to end up with a border that looks like this:

I'm heading into Ljubljana to find out more, but it looks like they have a sparse dotmap and this was a fair reach at Ginger.

Iron Working in 5t, after which I will need to take a detour to Hunting to put some Spears in place ... generally need to improve my defenses, esp. in the SW.

And with t75 upcoming, here's an overview of what I know of the map:

I'm Jake has just exited Superdeath's Southern borders and is searching for the remaining 2 contacts. I'm still uncertain whether I missed someone in the NW though; there are definitely at least 2 people between SD & greenline, but I keep forgetting that Mjmd is most likely one of them since I have yet to find his homeland. Mighty Mack is still struggling around greenline and his water feature, so it'll be a while before he is likely to run into anyone else's culture.

Any questions; anything lurkers want to see/know for t75?

Could you do a rundown of your cities and plans for them?

Hmmm, I should probably make some plans for them, shouldn't I?  lol

Maybe it would be fairer to say that I need to crystalise my thoughts, so it will be a useful exercise. No promises I will accomplish it all this turn, but I will start to lay them out.

Well if Ginger/civac may not play until tomorrow, then I'd better do this now - especially since I'll be at an "offsite workshop" from Weds-Fri, and though I have a machine that should allow me to play the turns I likely won't have time for reporting.

So here's a not-quite-turn75 look at Our Fish Means Death.

Starting with the core, we have Cod, what we are on a mission from:

Cod has been stuck on a 4-2 Settler whip cycle for too long. I need to stop and give it time to grow onto the cottages that are starting to be laid down. Having handed the Cows almost completely over to Haddock, it has not really been able to hand the Corn off to Clownfish often to help that city grow. Anyway, I'm going to need to push at least one more Settler here for the greenline border, but as you can see I'd rather slow-build it to an extent.

Longer term this will always have to split its time a bit between production & commerce and will be a lovely Bureau-cap when we get there.

I guess Clownfish is next:

I may have delayed settling this site for too long. The main job here, in the short term, is to work the Gems to support the push to IW & Calendar. Secondary of course is to help grow cottages for Cod. Moderate production capacity will probably end up being a mixed port city. In the running for Moai with 8 coastal tiles, but I'm feeling it will lose out.

Finally in the core we have Stonefish:

Stonefish is going to pick up Settler duty from Cod and focus on growing and whipping - probably from 6-4 - which will allow it to work the Gems & Copper full-time. Longer-term this is a Farms & Workshops production centre to pump out units - both foodhammer & military.

Next up, the North.

Soon to be the commercial core of the empire, the North starts with Trout:

Currently working the shared cottage in anticipation of IW. Then it will be cottages for miles and Plantations for days. I'm trying to save that forest for lumbermilling and keeping some drip of production available to build the necessary infrastructure here.

I'd like to find a way to get the shrine here, but I decided to file that away for future-me to think about.

Further upriver we have Perch:

Short term, this will be the production centre for the North. Borders pop and it will work the pfh to start the Barracks and then alternate military with Workers. Mid to long-term it will turn hybrid with the Dyes online and a few cottages supplementing.

On to the South.
