I gave it a shot and have a 5-0 record with it so far. It's certainly much more fun than those simple hunter rush decks.
"Simple" rush decks are more challenging to play correctly than control imo. You have generally smaller hands and you often win or lose by 2-3 health so one small mistake can cost you a whole game. Midrange decks like this one seem the most straightforward to me.
The one hard decision point I can see in a deck like this is when to play early combo cards like buzzard or timber wolf so you can get value out of your houndmaster on turn 4.
