Quote:Even worse, the teams are making no effort to win the game just for the sake of trying to take us down. I don't fault teams for doing what's in their best interests to win, and Dantski and Jowy have legit reasons for teaming up against us. But Nakor?!? Kathlete?!?! They're not making any effort to build up their own civs, just gangbanging the "rockstar" team for fun.
Wow, there are a lot of problems here.
1. An effort to win the game _mandates_ attention to the skill levels and reputations of the players.
2. Nobody is more guilty of this than Sullla anyway. Look at the way he viewed Byzantium earlier on, and the effort to try and get them supplied with a metal resource. Do you think he would have behaved as such if it were an unknown player being attacked for an overly zealous early settlement?
3. Kathlete and Nakor are #2 and #3 in score!! Knocking down the #1 is not in their best interests to win the game? This is the sort of blindness to others' thinking that got India in so much trouble in the first place!
4. If an unknown player were approaching double the GNP of any other team in a no-tech-trading game, would Sullla not be willing to gang up against them because it was not in his interest in winning the game?
I'm sure winning free-for-all games is an art that requires a very different skill-set than that to win single player Civ IV. I wonder even if, for a team like India, if maybe even strongly considering a protective leader would be worth it, to dis-incentivize the attack. (If they never have to use a protected unit, it worked perfectly!)
