Doesn't matter if you produce 1000 commerce if 999 of it is burned on upkeep. High productivity at 100% science bears indication towards future potential, but it takes time and expense-reducing buildings (courthouses, banks) to realize it.
I should have mentioned that deficit at 100% science was also important but luckily everyone has included that anyway. The unfortunate thing is only Broker was researching a tech that no one had at the time, so the beaker numbers are skewed based on different prereqs and known techs.
I apologise for getting the person who suggested it wrong though

I've gone and started a spreadsheet to track the numbers and news just in. Spulla is back in a commanding position.
Code:
100% science loss science at 100% gold 100% gold binary ratio gold/science
Spulla 375-Feud 173 170 0.98
Broker 238 114 75 0.66
Whoisit 268-MC 135 66 0.49
Kathlete 320-PH? 185 15 76(90CB) 0.41
The ratio they can each maintain for binary research is particularly intering. Kathlete and Whoisit have ratios of 0.41 and 0.49 compared to 0.98 for Spulla. They are also about to embark on a military adventure requiring unit support costs in foreign territory as well as paying for new cities. It will be interesting to see how their economies stand up to that.
Edit:Thanks Adlain, I've edited it in.
