[SPOILER] On This Day

Popping the borders of mayan, getting a fort on the border and filling it with a few longbows will eventually be a good idea. We should expect lots of naval combat...

You should probably back-fill a city to grab that one floodplain tile between our cities and the wines.

I'll try logging in and come back with more ideas.

We get 2c foreign trade routes so IC trade routes haven't been necessary. We do want to settle the islands eventually though, and scout how the islands look in the NW.

I'm planning on back-filling a bunch of fillery cities after the border ones have been established.

Changed dotmap around a bit - the tundra city is shit, instead build on that little island, we get fish access immediately and our second ICTR.

Serdoas lands should be more or less mirror of ours. Maybe I'll send the scout there if Ruff won't give OB. Note: Serdoa wanted OB, I declined to keep him in the dark as much as possible, though that does work both ways.

I'll check the city sites when I log in. Thanks GKC smile Too tired to play my turn right now..

Good morning. Let's properly name the city we settled yesterday (SD made me play the turn while we were playing 7 Days to Die).

1703 – In Edo (now Tokyo), all but one of the Forty-seven Ronin commit seppuku (ritual suicide) as recompense for avenging their master's death.

The worker is inside the city. Getting the rice farmed is more important than the road.

Overview. We are the first to 11 cities!

I turned on tech. I think we'll have to bite the bullet and convert while not in a GA. Losing the Oracle race really hurts on that front too.
After Masonry and Monotheism, I think it's Monarchy time for HR and wines. That adds least 2 happiness per city.
On that note, I asked for silver for our excess gold from SD. He has 2 silvers but has not connected the second one yet. If he doesn't accept yet, I hope he re-visits the exchange soon.

Now taking a look at GKC's city sites:

The plains hill we definitely want for a border city. The stone one might be something to fill once we're out of land. SD will probably want the sheep, and without that tile it goes from bad to abysmal.

I agree with settling only one filler city in the mainland gap. It could be 1S to share the deer too (Diu has a clam for itself, Zab only has the sheep).

I reckon the idea here is to stop Serdoa from settling it and stealing our lake and sheep.

I added this because pigs are good and we should try to grab them.

Best turn ever!

We got a free religion spread! Now got Confu in 3 cities so that'll be the state religion.
On top of that, SD accepted the silver for gold trade! Happy to have at least one friendly neighbor. I think I will let him have the clam spot, or at least prioritise other spots first and not land hog it.

Small update: I'll build a galley in Henry's Joust, starting next turn. We'll need more to reach the other seas though. Don't have forts unlocked yet.

The hydra grows another head as we land Judaism. Il Trovatore is the holy city. It gets a free border pop, but we don't get any good tiles out of it.

Serdoa razed a Tarkeel city on the previous turn. Good news for us. By process of elimination, Tarkeel and AT are Serdoa's other neighbors, and they need to be aggressive towards him.

Just a filler demo screenshot for you guys. Not much going on to report. I like our position so far, though had we won the Oracle race, we would be in the lead.
Tarkeel built the Colossus btw. I was wrong about SD having the tech, only 1 person still has it and we know it's Tarkeel now. I guess he got it earlier and I was looking at the wrong turn score increases? Idk.

I am playing whack-a-mole with spy specialists.

Two more turns of saving gold and then 3T of research to get Monarchy, then conversion time. Three cities upcoming: The middle filler city, the far NE pigs city, and NW islands city (hopefully we find food there).

1497 – In Florence, Italy, supporters of Girolamo Savonarola burn cosmetics, art, and books, in a "Bonfire of the vanities"

Savonarola I like the cut of your jib, but my man, books are not vanities!

Serdoa took the mountain range spot, but didn't go deep.
