And screenshot from turn 20:

Our warrior can proceed to the hill 1S of the lake and guard our new city from there. One opponent is size 3 now, the others are still size 2.

And I see now that we've had another jungle growth, 1S of the sugar this time. Dammit.

I'll be away from civ thursday to sunday this week - are you poised to take over the reins just as our micro plan runs out, Shoot?

Sure. Perhaps we should get a further micro plan. I might have time tonight to work on that, or at the least tomorrow.

Whipped the settler. We'll work the sheep instead of the FP next turn, and the expansive bonus will make sure that the worker completes next turn.

Our opponents are no slouches even though they're stuck at low city sizes. Whipping brought us crashing down to last place (in score)... Demographics show a rival population of 46k. Rival best has 21k, one size 3 city. Rival worst has 6k, one size 2 city. That leaves 19k for the last two, which means we have one player with two cities sized 2 and 1 (7k) and one player with two size 2 cities (12k). Meh.

I also realize now looking at the screenshot that I could have sent the warrior in William Tell out scouting. But that depends on how we plan to continue our micro. Most likely we'll grow to size 4 for a double whip of either a worker or another settler, so we'll need the MP.

Okay, I just played turn 22:

City sizes are the same as last turn, except there's another player with cities size 2 and 1 now. So three players have got 2 cities now, we'll found Robin Hood next turn.

Here's my suggestion for the next three turns.

Turn 23:
Settle Robin Hood, work flood plains, build granary. Our worker Arrow starts farming the corn. Our new worker Bullet moves to the flood plain SW-S of WT and cottages for a turn. Work this flood plain and the ivory and the rice in WT, don't work the grassland cottage. This is important so that WT grows to have 9 food in its box, enough to grow immediately from size 2 to 3 after a whip. Beware, the governor will mess this configuration up when RH is settled. 50% slider on Meditation. Our warrior moves SE, and will go scout out the tip of the peninsula south of Robin Hood.

Turn 24:
Bullet moves S-SW again to part-cottage a floodplains again. Start a settler in William Tell. Work the sheep over the grassland cottage, to get 11 foodhammers into the settler build. This is so that we can overflow from a settler whip to another 1-turn worker later. 100% slider on Meditation.

Turn 25:
Use both workers to complete the corn farm, and work the corn. William Tell is reconfigured to work ivory, grassland cottage, rice, flood plains. Borders expand, and our warrior reaches the tip of the peninsula. I think this is the moment to finalize the location of our third city, and our next worker actions depend on that location. The plan for Robin Hood is to whip the granary at size 2, then grow on warrior builds or a monastery and whip workers/settlers. William Tell can keep its current configuration until the settler has 41/65 hammers, then 2-whip it and overflow to a 1-turn worker, working the ivory and rice on both the turn of the whip and the turn of the worker build.

As for the location of our third city, I don't think a city 1S of the copper is the best idea. Yes, it shares the corn, but it doesn't claim any new food resources. For claiming the copper I much prefer a city on the plains hill 2W1S of copper, which has wet wheat first ring. The copper will be claimed by the third ring of the holy city of Robin Hood. For sharing the corn, a city 3S of Robin Hood is an alternative, which is why I want to scout that peninsula. Then we have the other first ring locations around WT, and the t25 border pop might help us spot something there.
I have to run.

Alright, I tried playing around with settling on the bananas a bit, although I'm not particularly happy with what I've done. I would write it up if it were a better sim, but it honestly wasn't so unless you really want me to I'll simply post the save stack:

The more I look at it the more I agree 1S probably isn't the best. I am really hoping at this point that the border pop reveals something nice around the bananas, as no spots really stand out to me as amazing third city locations. There are certainly good spots to be had there, but none that scream that they will get going fast.

Your writeup for the next couple of turns certainly looks solid to me having now played through it in our sims.

I can't look at your saves until Sunday. Yeah, let's hope for goodies in the fog.

The first part of the reveal:

Perhaps most notable is that little bit of grassland in the fog to the SE. No more resources unfortunately, although we do now know for certain that the ice is meant to block us.

I have demographics, victory screen, and top city screenshots if you want them. Summary is we are third in land, top in crop yield. One other capital is at size four (and that civ does not have a second city yet as we are the leader in pop, not tied for it) and everyone else is at size two. Of the civs with size two capitals, it appears that one has a size one second city and the other two have size two second cities. This matches with us having exactly 25% of world pop (which we do). So at least two other civs settled their second cities a decent amount before us, or settled somewhere where they could share their capital's already improved food resource. Going back farther I could probably figure out roughly which of those was which if necessary, although that would likely be more academic than at all impacting how we play.
