Thinking King and Genius. Like Dismantle, Palace, Puzzle less

I'll put this in spoilers since it is the first post after the clue.
Actually it is not spoilered, just further down.

Myself, I prefer to give a 'fresh' guess. Sometimes when I click on "most recent post" I will see commodores clue, and the first post after that might be revealed as well. And as a teacher, I am a firm believer in letting people start their own train of thought first without any previous clues.

Did a test in two classes, "guesstimate how many leaves on that tree".
Class A - first person said 3000, all the rest were around this value. Max 6000.
Class B - first person said 12 000, and of course had guesstimates from 8000 - 20 000.

I think it was 15 000 - 20 000, so class A failed because of that first guy putting the wrong idea into their minds.

So, perhaps this is enough spoiler space?

Maybe I don't need the actual spoiler tag in the end. In a practical real-life sitting of the game, I'd urge my team to "think about this for 30 seconds, then we do a round and see."

So yeah, I'm thinking King and Palace.

Edit: Beat to making first post by 2, even.

Wouldn't genius be less ambigious with"machiavellian" than "machiavelli"?

Yes, sort of. Machiavelli himself qualifies as a genius, I think. But "Machiavellian" doesn't work as well for King... which recommends that in my opinion for being our second guess.

I was just defending why I was going to spoiler it, not replying to your post (didn't see it).

About the clue, it just occured to me that there probably are better ways to indicate "king + palace" than Machiavelli...

Didn't Machiavelli write 'textbooks' on how to be a proper successful ruler some five hundred years ago, when ruthless plotting and scheming was recommended strongly. 'Machiavellian plot' means very deep, well-thought-out scheme. Evil, even?

Was Machiavelli a king, though? Darn no google...
I thought of him more as a nobleman kind of guy...advisor. I am on thin ice here though.

He wasn't a king, but his famous book was titled "The Prince".

And, a lot of modern references to him involve kings or other leaders. It's a lot more common to cite say Putin's success in those terms than Mark Zuckerberg's.

I remember Norwegian translation of that title is "fyrsten". Probably after German 'fūrst' which is a kind of ruler, close synonym with king.
Im aboard with king and genius.
