As I mentioned in my previous posts the score may have been a little off these last turns. So this turn shows the actual score right before I hit the end turn button. The differences are not entirely accurate, but will be correct from here on out. All of my stats are low now compared to every one else. Also I am extremely worried about my military score, I can slot a card to help that when PP is in I just don't think there is much to gain for taking so many turns to build units without that card. Speaking of civics....

I had to abandon my great general plan, and I am not happy on how I played the beginning now. I tried to do to much and it is coming back now. Many turns were effectively wasted on that card. The only good thing I am trying to take out of this is that I may be able to pursue the next one. Persia's military is still growing and I am 9 turns from slotting a production boosting card and then 4 or 5 turns from actually getting a unit out. This switch right here now that I am looking back on it may be what looses me this game. If Alhambram comes a knocking I am done for. He declared war on archduke for extra movement so this is just all around not good. I went with the risky decision to not fall even more behind and well I think it is going to screw me.

With that swap in place I chose to continue a settler and a trader.

Walls are next in Rose. I am hoping that Alhambram is headed towards Hattsua instead of me. I have my warrior in that area, I still think Persia will not move towards me until he can get some immortals out and his city defenses are still in the warrior range.

Well suboptimal is making sure that the duke has to fight for Australian lands. This is nothing but good for me. I do not want either to win, just beat the shit out of each other. This also may entice Persia to look eastwards? I doubt it, he can still declare war on Australia for extra movement. Only time will tell. I am still nervous and I am probably making the worst decisions. I had a high outlook coming into this game but every one exploded in all score categories while I have not. I need time. I need time. Religion will help me out big time so that is something I may have that my enemies will not.

As can be clearly seen, TheArchduke is making 3 great general points a turn, and can at least run a project in two cities. There was no chance I was getting the first one so I am glad I switched out of that policy. Alhambram builds yet another unit or has upgraded one. Either way I can not tell how much gold he has so this does not bode well for me. Still need 8 turns to swap.

Now from what I understand if he upgraded one, his city strength would increase so I think he just built a new unit. More turns living on the edge.

My scout in the east found a Australian settler that will found a city next turn. If not I can actually declare war and steal it with my scout (highly unlikely) but I think the +100% he would get would actually be better for him. 3 cities double production plus a settler card would get a new one out in no time and get other things built. So I go ahead and offer this

Rose has 2 turns left until I can chop into the encampment. Walls will be next but with the limited production they may not come in to be of any use. Bastion has 5 turns for that trader then will start on a horseman. A few turns production into it before the horse card will be good. 2 turns until the wheel and a watermill is what Jess will build next. Archer is headed towards Rose and my southern warriors is watching the pass. I am not sure if he should return or move farther south. Well at this point I can only pray that there is not a Persian assault force marching towards Rose.

I checked all of the city states and nothing has changed.

Alhambram is beating me in every category. My slightly higher empire score does not mean much as far as I am concerned. I am trying to turn this around but things do not look very good at the moment.

For starters Suboptimal denied my open borders agreement. He then sent me an aggreement for 1Icon_Gold for 1Icon_Gold. I accepted, no need to loose my scout. Also 10 turns have passed since I declared war on Zanzibar. Due to timing issues I was unable to hold off going into the classic age. If this city state is around in the Medieval Age I may get a better quest.

The real news comes from the home front.

A promoted 4 movement warrior shows up in the south of Rose. I thought long and hard and switched production over to walls. I am going to chop into them next turn. Just to be safe.

My other cities switch up the builds as well.

Bastion grabs the horses from Jess and starts a horseman. When he finishes in 7 turns (I know yikes ) he will be able to help deter an attack, hopefully. Jess is still set to a settler which has gone back up to 3 turns.

All of my troops are moving towards Rose. I think I will have the wounded warrior stay back and guard the builder and escort the settler. I am sticking with the wheel to maximize the chop in Rose. It should take off a considerable amount of Icon_Production. I really wanted to finish the builds each city was on, but my low military score is just going to provoke him, Persia's extra movement ends in two turns I believe, at least that is when the 10 turns is up with me. Now that I think about it he did declare war on Macedon as well, and I am not 100% sure if it was before or after that so he may still have some extra move left. Also he is at peace with the Aussies so he can declare on them as well. 

I am hoping that warrior is just a scout, but he may be trying to settler close to my lands so he can upgrade to Immortals. I am really trying to get a unit out. Jess will build the trader next I think, I really need a road to Rose to get troops to the front line, but I just don't know, I will have to see how the next few turns pan out.

Well for turn 61 I completely forgot to fill in the Rankings and score.

Archduke got the first GG. He seems to notice that my situation may be a bit dire so sent me horses for free. The situation around Rose is not good.

My primitive drawing show 3 units are moving in, I expect more to come. Well I took a huge risk to get to PP before units and like all risks, they only look good if successful. I went ahead and chopped into walls, 5 turns left. I do not think the city will make it 5 turns though. My other warrior and archer are just 2 far away and 16 city defense vs 27 warriors is not good odds. I swapped the horses back to Jess, I am going to chop the settler next turn with overflow into a horseman now that I have 2 horses. I will go found the creator lake city (i know) and use the last charge to get the cotton. Loosing Rose will loose all of my gold and amenities so I don't have much of a choice. I can give the horses back in 2 turns if that is the best call. 

With Persia's extra movement and his ability to declare war on the Aussie's still I don't think Rose will have much of a chance. Bastion will need walls after the horseman and I need some archers. Six turns until PP is in and with the loss of Rose this may take more like 8.

I know it looks desperate, and it is. If he doesn't know he is in a good position now, he will in a turn or 2 around Rose any ways. I figure my only chance to keep this city is to offer terms right now.

I also asked Suboptimal for his extra oranges. I am going to be down 2 amenities so maybe he can help the war effort a bit. 

Looking back doesn't do me much good. More military, would be nice right now, going for religion instead of GG also looks like it would have been a much better choice. Live and learn. It would appear that Bastion is going to play a major role in the fate of the Polish Empire once again.

Quick Strategy conference with myself.

-Founding Rose was my greedy move. With my beginning of the game decisions and being Poland, I should have settled back country leaving Bastion with its choke point to defend against superior Persian movement. Again I got greedy with the thought of 2 luxuries and With my pursuit of 2 great people that was not a good move.

-This is the plan I will move forward with. Bastion will be on walls after I get two horseman out and Jess will get a shrine. Defenders of the faith is the only option I see to have any long term chance at bastion.

-If Alhambram wants Armagh after Rose, which is a pretty good move considering there is nothing I can do about it, then I am even more screwed, bastion will be threatened from 2 sides.

-Praying that he accepts my deal and considers the fact he gets +2 move again in 10 turns.

-Holding up in bastion is my best option, I will still need more cities to have a chance, production is now extremely limited.

-If he does not accept my offer, than full on horseman rush to get Rose back. He will upgrade his troops with all the money he can. Need PP and horseman, no other option I think.

Well as can be expected Alhambram did not accept my peace deal. Also the Aussies did not want to help the Polish cause either. Rose will be gone soon.

I chopped out the settler and the horseman will be done next turn. Even with the added defense it will not make a difference in Rose. If those were the only 3 units he brought than maybe but I do believe there will be more units coming.

Another horseman and some archers are needed. I will make things as hard as I can for the Persians. Bastion will prove to be more difficult to snag. Just to mention he is in oligarchy so has the +4 advantage right now. 

In the east I am just doubling back since Suboptimal would not grant me open borders. So far only TheArchduke has helped my cause so anything I can do to help him win I will.

Score does not mean much to me at this point. There are very few choices I am able to make and units are a priority. My decline seems to be set. Although in FFA style game the end is never certain. Here is what the area around Rose looked like at the beginning of the turn.

I move all my troops towards Bastion, my warrior retreats from Rose, I hear the cry's of my citizens and the angry shouts of my abandonment. It is hard being a leader, I whispered to myself as the city came out of view.

Well no new news.

I need lots of things at this point, and thinking about it I needed lots of things 20 turns ago. Trader, monument, commerce districts, workers, religion, more units. I will try to get as many as I can, but this is going to be an uphill battle.

Well major score change for the Persians. Not only did he get Rose, he also founded a mid way city to help reinforce his new conquest. Getting that city back does not seem possible anytime in the near future. I am behind in all categories. I was able to found "Creator Lake" so that is at least some good news. Will have to work the cotton tile once the plantation is down to get me out of the red. Start on a holy cite, need a religion and faith.

I trust that those warriors around the city will soon be immortals and that slinger will soon be an archer. 

Focus on religion after that archer is out. A shrine and maybe project to follow. Bastion will be bulding horseman for a long time. Thinking warrior monks and crusade to try and get me out of this. DotF just seems like it will delay the inevitable.
Bastion already has a choke point and if he gets past that well I don't think an extra +10 after my army has been slaughtered will help much. 

No idea how well that will work, never used a warrior monk but my new civic focus is to theology.

Well I am still building units, 2 turns until PP is in. Archduke sent me spices for free so at least he seems to understand the need to keep me around longer. I will hopefully be able to return the favor some day. From the score it looks like he has a battler to deal with over in the east against the Aussies. If I could help I would.

Interesting how in PBEM7 we are allies, and this game has put us both in position to help each other (right now just me getting help). Just one of those funny things in game I guess. I will point out that we did not plan this at all, in fact I thought that I was going to have to help Australia out if you take a look at my reports towards the beginning of the game.
