Imagine that I would start spamming spies and build espionage infra. I'm already making 250 EPs without allocating any spy specialists or using EP slider. I can easily more than double this passive EP generation via stealing Communism from Cheetach and building those +8 EP/50% buildings. Even if you would run constantly counter espionage missions towards me I would be in 20T in a position where I could run non-stop "incite revolt" in your capital without even utilising EP slider.

Game seems to be unpaused and I've spoiled myself so from my behalf this game is over. If Bigger after looking at my and other threads thinks he could have pulled it through, I'm ok declaring him as winner.

I do think I had at least a 50% shot if the ideea of concession had never been brought up. once it was, my chances went down considerably. but I just logged in and triggered my golden age (1 turn before intended, but it doesnt seem like I'll get another choice). revolted to free market and philosophy. I can pop something like 8-10 artists during the golden age or soon after. I have about 10 turns worth of 100% culture cash saved up, and I have ~75% breakeven rate so I can get cash easily for more. my main 2 culture cities are commerce cities with several towns so they can probably go legendary without artists. theodyssey might need 1 artist. they both have 5 cathedrals and are working on a 6th. the third is a hammer city and will need the bulk of the artists. it has 5 cathedrals working on a 6th as well but doesnt have as much output - but there is still a 8cpt wonder out there. L;eft alone, I could probably go legendary in 45 turns. ill revolt to nationalism the last turn of my golden age and draft every non culture city to the ground, and have the globe built in a very high food city. I have 28 rifles, and 26 muskets I planned to upgrade (as well as many maces I considered upgrading - cash is easy now). i could have well over 100 rifles (maybe close to 150) and 40 cats in 25-30 turns that just need to defend 3 cities. my navy is only a token force, of course, but enough to defend the northern straights and make you build a larger navy than you have now. so you see why bombers in 30 turns don't scare me. I would win well before you could get tanks. I haven't read your thread, so you tell me, was it at all realilistic? More importantly, could/would you have stopped me if you still thought serdoa was still trying to win, and had to worry about him getting too far ahead of you if you came after me? Or would you have counted on him to help out? im not upset anymore. but the premature concession by everyone has soured me on this game a bit, because I'll always wonder "what if." its also annoying because if we hadn't detoured towards CV the last 50 turns would have been a lot more fun. if we hadn't gotten sistene, then serdoa wouldnt have beaten us to the Taj, I would have gone heavier on the military and captured all of azza's island cities from commodore, and probably taken a few cities from serdoa too. I just have seen too many games where there is obviously a clear winner, only to see him unseated as the game goes on, and I think in general RB people give up WAY too easily. I meant what I said - I'm pretty confident I could win from serdoa's position right now :/.

Spies, however. I think that's why its hopeless.
If only you and me and dead people know hex, then only deaf people know hex.

Spies make it hopeleass and before this duel talk I was planning to launch Infantry/Arty/MG/cavs strike in ~25T (I wasn't seriously heading towards Bombers. Didn't want to reveal all my cards then). I was on line to Destroyers and transporters in ~17T. Unless someone would have handed the game to you i.e. attacked me with serious force you wouldn't have got there. I also don't think your other cities than capital are that great for culture win. 2nd didn't have that many cottages and 3rd didn't probably have any.

I am comforted that you were going to attack regardless, even before the concession talk started. im sure I could have held off your invasion for a bit - for long enough, maybe not. your privateers were pretty clever, you tricked me out of my spying east indiamen ![]()

I also think it would have been a great deal of fun to try and fight you off - more fun than i had had the entire game. I understand that other players weren't enjoying it anymore, but I didn't enjoy it either when Scooter's gift of horses to Azza turned what should have been a quick and decisive victory into a frustrating 100 turn cold war.
anyway, i very much think we need a better method for handling concessions and game end for pb13. at the very least, civs at the bottom of the scoreboard shouldnt have so much say in it. im also claiming 3rd place. my economy was much better than commodore or slowcheetah at the end anyway, and if I hadn't turned off research I would be ahead of commodore in score <G>

I'm claiming Not Dead
![]() It's funny how that Horse trade changed things. Looking back on it, if you take out Azza fast then maybe Serdoa has to watch his west a lot more and can't go conquering Brick. Or maybe Plako has someone to keep him in line. Perhaps that means we aren't harried as much in the later eras because there's more focus on the big players. But I'd do that trade again, if only to have a third party be blamed for it for the entire game ![]()
