how so? he'll have a turn to rush reinforcements in and whip.
Are you kidding? If you saw 9 axes on a hill 2tiles from your city you wouldn't whip and rush reinforcements? He was always going to have that turn to do that.

turn 104: well this is awkward
This sucks. we are two turns from making contact with scooter. now we have to turn around (if we go NE, NE we can avoid the spear) and hope that we can out flank him by going around the mountain. it might take another 10 turns to reach him now .
demos, still at 0% (probably until we get some libraries built):
power graph:
we're starting to get some real separation from Azza here. yeah, I think we need to attack
MFG graph:
both graphs also give us a clue why serdoa was so eager to get peace with us .

Am I right in thinking that playing after Azza and rolling the turn denies him the chance to whip? Or does that count as clock shenanigans?
I've just been reading pitboss 7 and I can see why we'd want to avoid that now!

It does deny him the chance to whip, but taking the second half of the turn timer wouldn't be shenanigans.

The problem with doing that is no-one ever ends turn if they think they'll get attacked and the game drags on for ever...
Anyhow it shouldn't matter as he'll whip anyway when he sees the stack on the hill

We will be hitting beowulf with 20 units. 9 axe, 2 HA, 3 Chariot, 2 spear, 4 archers. Can't wait to lose some units so that we don't have all the unit maintenance.

Culture in the plains tile is at 46% up from 42% last turn. If next turn (t106) the culture is at 48% or less than 50% then I will stage on the hill. On T107 we should still own the tile because it will only switch at EOT06 if Azza owns more than 50%. So we can then road and attack on T107.
I think Azza has a settler moving to stone. He's got his praet and an archer moving that way and I don't see his HA. We can take care of that later. I'm considering that if we can kill the bulk of his army we feint at his capital but road to the stone and Presets and raze both of those. I don't think he will have spears in the stone city.
I'm building+1 chop a lib in the cap. It should be done in 6 turns. Let's get 3 libs up in core commerce cities.

ok. like razing presets and this new city (good grief his stone city will be crap, stone and like 1 grassland tile, plus coast with no seafood).
we really aren't going to be able to go after his capital or living end/muse without catapults at the very least, probably macemen and/or knights. but if we can keep his continental holdings contained that will be very useful. I want to see him found presets for a third time
Like the library too. wish we could build a temple as well, but we will probably need more axes once the library is done.
Lets keep max tax going until all 3 libraries are complete, then crank it up - we can get through maths and half of currency, at least. we'll have our shrine by then too, which will be very useful.
