[SPOILERS] Cornflakes PB53

Everyones chances of winning currently?
"Superdeath seems to have acquired a rep for aggression somehow. Too early. AT seems weakest and possibly on the way out if Scooter’s attack is real. Ask again at T100 for a better gauge on the field. My slower starting traits are starting to pay off. If I get the GMerchant trade mission completed successfully that will be worth 50+ turns of Pro on its own.

Scooter accepted a toll of 88g + 6gpt for OB. The fee of 150g is worth it to me for insuring the merchant against loss due to Scooter declaring war and killing (not that I think it likely, but better safe and making a gesture of goodwill). I get 1300 gold for Scooter’s island city vs 700 for TBS border city, so with the fee a net gain of 450g for me. Scooter should be pleased with his 25% insurance fee. I also get 2gpt from trade routes to his islands and he gets about the same from me plus PRO (everyone except TBS has OB with scooter so I think he just profits from my two island cities).

Scooter is also showing sugar, spice, and Dye connected on the trade screen. MoM will require a GEngineer I’m afraid. I get 2 happiness from Calendar and I’m 8 turns from another 60/40 coin flip engineer/merchant so I’m headed to Calendar next.

Had a little hiccup in my micro as TBS played after me, canceled Silver tribute and offered Gems (having connected a 2nd source). So I had a turn with 2 unhappiness everywhere at the turn roll. This caused my beakers per turn to drop and I didn’t complete Mathematics as planned. I had enough buffer in my Pyramids construction that I chopped the first two forests anyway without Math bonus, rather than delay for a turn. I was close to needing only 1 chop on the last turn instead of 2, so using up that buffer I’m still on track for Pyramids EOT 69. If I get it, the GMerchant first with successful trade mission will be a better overall outcome. I wouldn’t have had my libraries ready in time for the earlier Pyramids, or the pop of specialists. As-is I was able to turn on 100% slider and grow and build Libraries.

Scooter lost a big stack capturing a city from AT, probably not worth the investment. I’m taking advantage of the OB to map out his territory for potential future military action. Just moved in a chariot so I’ll post a screenshot after a couple turns scouting.

People are finally starting to connect 2nd copies of luxuries. Scooter and Commodore each traded me a luxury for 50g lump sum, putting 3 citizens off the streets and back to work immediately and allowing me to grow another pop everywhere. Not exactly sure why I offered lump sum instead of gpt, I guess I felt they would be more inclined for an upfront payment and the happiness is really useful to me.

Disadvantage is if you continue to rely on the trade in 10t from now and you have the same situation as with TBS last turn.

In 5 turns I get Representation for +3 happiness at my largest cities, in 4 turns I hit Calendar with Sugar + Silk available to improve, within 10 turns I'll have a border pop for furs from a library in my island city (I was going to whip that library this turn for quicker furs, but opted for a lighthouse first due to the trades, so regrow then whip).

Sidetrack from the above, but also on the 4-turn timeline is the 60/40 GEngineer roll for rushing MoM. My chariot passed Scooter's capital this turn with a worker apparently chopping deer. Such a tile chop would only be ordered for a critical project such as MoM so 4 turns is probably too late. Enjoy the suspense  popcorn I slipped Construction (completing end of current turn) in ahead of Calendar since I could still complete Calendar on the turn the GPerson is born. I'll get some catapults lined up in queue for emergency. I didn't GNP-gaze whether any rivals know Construction yet unfortunately, can't wait for the new CtH features which eliminate the C&D busy-work dancing

@Charriu, would you be interested in looking up the actual mechanics of deciding the dice roll for great people? It is a true proportional split between number of points invested in each type, or does some additional weighting get factored in due to the way the code is written (such as with religions favoring earlier founded cities).
