Ok, group 2, seems the civs are:

Hannibal of Ottomans
Bismarck of Maya
Gandhi of Egypt
Ragnar of Mongolia
Mansa Musa of Byzantium

Are people happy with playing the same map and being randomly assigned one of these choices?

Personally I think I'd prefer to pick my own as some of them I am not really comfortable with playing. I'll go with what the majority think though.

I'm not involved in your guys picks, but if it weren't random assigned and you could just perhaps do a random order pick, would that be better? But yeah, I understand the idea that you might not want to play someone else's pick. I'm happy because I actually picked mine .

Its ok, I suggested it too before I saw the picks. Prob best to do our own snake pick really - fairest way.

I've the map about ready. There is only some minor fine tuning left. Could someone sum up all the settings so that I can check that I've got everything right and maybe Scooter could update the settings to his opening message.

Here they are, and if someone sees an issue with these, then speak up

-No tech trading
-Quick Speed
-No random events, vassals, spies, huts, or war elephants (ivory is ok)
-Barbarians - Plako's choice (we didn't really discuss this much, so we can leave it up to him depending on the map)
-Difficulty - Plako's choice

This is all I can think of, so if there's something else, feel free to let me know.

Since your forum hasn't been opened I haven't shown the map to anyone else yet. Depending on how eager you're to start I could either intiate this as soon as I get it ready or wait until you get your forum up and get some comments from other lurkers.

You could open a map thread here in general discussions if you'd like, and then once our forum is open it's pretty trivial I think to move the thread over there. I think even Sullla has that ability as a moderator. As much as I'm itching to get started, I think it's always best to have someone else review the map for minor issues that can come up.

I agree with scooter. I am fine with nearly anything as long as I don't get again a clearly subpar starting position
