Just saw this chat message from Lewwyn:

Lewwyn Wrote:Lewwyn: huzzah 2t day

Yay! The turn was in early this morning and it's a Saturday so I knew we had a good chance, but I was trying to avoid saying anything in my last post so I didn't jinx it lol.

scooter Wrote:Thanks! I feel pretty comfortable with the spice/crabs spot being our 2nd city, so pretty soon here I'll take a closer look at all the land we have around us and try to figure out City3 which will be a tougher decision. I'd really like Pigs/gold, though I haven't checked on whether or not settling that would coincide with AH being done. It also may depend on if/where I have copper.

Yeah i like it too, but who knows if something awesome showed up! Unfortunately, the warrior on teh road found very meh kinda land!

Yep. I'm going to head SE with the warrior next turn to see if there's any seafood below the pasture. I'm not banking on there actually being horse in that pasture, but if there is, I'd like to know if there's any food by it. After that I'll probably continue looping around to the south to see what the land down there is like.

T13 in, and since Lewwyn played again there's a chance I might see the turn a third time later today smile. Like I said, I moved southeast to see if there was seafood at the invisible pasture.

Well yes and no. Good to see fish down there but no fish to go with that pasture which means if there IS horse there, it'll likely be a foodless horse. I have two choices here - I can go south onto that plains hill and continue heading along the west bank of that body of water, or I can head east and scout the land south of Holocene. First choice lets me cover more ground, second choice lets me cover more relevant ground. Probably going with the latter which means I'll likely move NE next turn. My retreat continues in the north:

Took the picture so we could note that the body of water there is indeed a lake. I think we knew that already from Lewwyn's land, but just in case. The scout is NW of Lewwyn but if you try to imagine like it's the land to my west, this picture is more interesting:

(for reference: that lake that says "freshwater" and that gold are the same as in my last picture)

So just west of that gold is an ocean that contains crabs... and LOL at the farmed Oasis. That's actually a solid tile. I'm noticing that this land in general is very diverse - there's a lack of big splotches of grassland... This is actually kind of nice - as I don't see that many mega cottage cheese cities which helps keep the Financial guys in place... Though I guess the abundance of water tiles does help them a bit. Anyways, just thought it was worth mentioning. The capitals:

Brian Shanahan grew to size 5 and Commdore remained at size 3. I think we can now confirm Commodore has been working on a settler and Brian opted to keep growing. Serdoa has probably been working on a settler too. Demos:

And because I'm at the end of this report and have forgotten to paste the picture in as of yet, here's the capital chugging along.

Hoping for a third turn sometime today!

I got teh save (didn't play but looked around). 1) there is a spot where you could settle and get teh fish AND the pasture theoretically. I just don't think the pasture will have horses.

2) be careful with the scout because the tile 1w is a farmed oasis so it'll eat all of our scouts movement!

Report later. I found a town!

1) I see that now, but I did find a better spot. You'll see later. And yeah I'm skeptical on the pasture myself.

2) thanks for pointing this out - I always forget this! Saw it right before I played the turn and it saved me.

Yeah, that's one difficulty in playing a specially made map. You can't play percentages about what's likely to be where, you have to guess how devious the map maker decided to be.

(Not a spoiler, I don't remember Seven saying anything about it.)

We could do a WB test and see if a pasture looks different with a horse or not or if it changes tile yields when the horse is there even if we hon't have AH. I'd run it now by my daughter just woke up from a nap. I expect no difference though. wouldn't hurt to know for sure.

Turn 14 ya'll. So, fish. I don't like seafood, but the Mongolian empire love it.

So if the pasture does have horse, we can use that fish instead. If it doesn't, then we'll call SevenSpirits some nasty names and figure something else out. The "if horses" dot will probably be on the grass jungle hill between the fish and the invisible horses. That'll also let it share the grassland stone tile which is a fun one.

Also, I found a town on a lake. That sounds crazy, but it's just that. It's crazy and it's a town on a lake. I love it.

I put a sign on it because it basically summed up what was going through my head at the time. Thanks again to Dazed reminding me that I would've gotten stuck on the Oasis. I'd like to go W-SE next turn to end on the plains, but I'm semi-afraid of getting trapped by Lewwyn's warrior or something which would be nasty. I'll have to go back and work out how far he could've travelled but if he ended up 1S of the windmill or something and ambushed me on the plains that'd be kinda nasty. The demos exist:

Capitals are unchanged.

But most importantly, I hit enter and my brave sojourners are ready to roll. And I'll have to think about what to name the city.

The town on an island is not only cool but it's convenient in that you can actually get good use out of that tile without sending a worker to it. Now, how nasty do you think this map is? Is there a resource under it that you have to decide to mine or not? It can't ever be hooked up so i don't see how that would be worth it anyways, but theoretically, it could be a iron/coal or something like that.
