So.... its been 99 turns since I played this game. I was really nervous last time as it was my first Civ MP in forever.
Logged in to find Azza has researched GUNPOWDER. With regards to what comes next:
Azza had pre-selected Military Science.... ok. I did set binary research at 0% for Chemistry. We had some gold stocked up, so this should take 5 turns (2 at 0% and 3 at 100%)
First thing that caught my eye was a worker farming a wheat that was outside any BFCs. I thought "wow - must be planning to settle near there". but could not find any nearby settler. I found one that looked ready to settle in its current spot. Finally found the settler hiding under the worker in the wheat field
There was a pike near each settler - I contemplated the idea that they were on the tiles that Azza intended to settle. Here's the situation:
blue circles = pikes, red circles = where I thought the settlers should plant. In the south, settling in place gets the ability to share the clams, but does give up a single flood plain - assuming we can dislodge Musicman culture. Its also on a PFH.
In the east, the pike is not on a hill. Settling 1t to the east gets a hill location as well as able to share the crabs.
Also- I am glad we don;t share a border with slowcheetah:
It looks like he is using this to hammer on MusicMan. Maybe we can get in some action there too? Our obsolete stack might be of some use.
I went through the cities and prioritized commerce + food over some hammer tiles. Like here in bender - i took a citizen off of a 3h workshop and put him on a 2f3c coast. It didnt delay the university, but delayed grow time from 9->3.
I left specialists alone - although i was surprised at the number of engineers deployed.
As far as builds - a Bank, Barracks, Pike all finished this turn... That along with the 2 settlers didn't give me a lot of clue as to what we are building - infrastructure? expansion? military? all of the above? In the 2 cities that just finished something and had barracks, I queued up a couple of muskets. I queued up a University in Morbo.
Here are the cities:
I named the new one Scruffy and queued up a granary. I also shuffled workers to arrive at the new cities sites as soon as practical.
first time using screenshot tags... cool! that really gets around the horrible quality that comes from scaling the jpegs. If you want the high-res, the option is still there. Only downside is that my dropbox account is going to fill up again.
