[SPOILERS] SevenSpirits and The Black Sword - Baguettes and Circuses

1. Yeah, that sounds good. Though the third warrior probably needs to stay in the capital but the fourth warrior can explore SW.

2. Agreed, we need to finish revealing the area to really figure it out. I agree that SE of wheat looks good right now, and it does allow for a city that lighthouses all three lakes. But that lighthouse city is a risky city to plan on because it may well block a more-important city depending on the fog. Planting on the copper is actually surprisingly good too. The city can borrow a capital mine to build a three-turn monument and then work on the granary while the wheat becomes available. It's also nice that we can delay this city longer without delaying copper due to the instant hookup, because none of the possible cities for copper are great for the snowball. For the small river area to our north, we could settle on the jungle and use the crab. It's certainly not a great city though.

Current turn was uneventful. But this picture looked nice:

I spent some time going back over the C+D. Here's what I got:

Yuris:

(Fishing, Mining) -> Hunting -> Bronze(T11) -> AH(T18) -> Wheel(T21) -> Agri(T23) . He grew to 4, double-whipped a (presumably)worker, just regrew to size 3. Shouldn't be religion competition.

Ichabod:
(Agri, Myst) -> Fishing -> Mining -> BW(T16). Seems like he 3->2 whipped a Gran on T20, regrew to size 4 and 2-whipped this turn(T24). That's a long time without a tech. It's possible he got one T20 or T22 mixed up with his land points, but if so, they shouldn't have any power. Seems like a Poly run.

Mack:
(Fishing, Hunting) -> AH -> Mining(T10) ->Wheel(T18) He has a full land start. Was at size 2 for a while(T10-T19), which suggests a second worker, has now been at size 3 for a bit. We should be safe for religion.

Dreylin:
(Fishing, Hunting)-> AH -> Mining -> BW(T17)->Wheel(T22). Looks like he built a settler at size 3 and founded it this turn(T24). More importantly, he's Cre.

I'm not totally sure of all that, I still have some inconsistencies, but I give it a high probability of being right. If so, we want to grab Meditation. Also, it's quite likely Poly falls to Ichabod in the next two turns, making all the work a bit redundant. wink

Nice. I might try to check it and increase our accuracy a little bit today. It's hard to believe that Mackoti's t18 tech is wheel rather than BW, for one.

That would be great. In the case of Mack's T18 tech, I had rival top power(Yuri) increase from 16k->18k and total power only increase by 8k, not enough for BW.
Reply

Well there's no guarantee that the same person is the top power on both turns. Could be yuri with 16 one turn and mack with 18 the next. (And BW is 8k.)
Reply

I don't think so. The top power remained an even number, and Yuri was the only one at size 4. The others would have been at lower pop, only worth 1k power so the rival top would have been odd if it were them. Is there any other way to get 1k power?

Well, that's tough to argue with. Pop and barracks are the only early ways to get odd power and I'm sure we're not facing a barracks.

Hmm, I gave it a bit more thought. It's possible that someone lost a warrior that turn, leaving enough power for Mack to get BW. Besides Yuri, only Dreylin has a warrior at that stage, but it's only been built at T16, doesn't seem like enough time to get it killed. Then both Mack and Dreylin built a warrior T19. It would make everything internally consistent, unlike my previous effort, which had Mack somehow coming up with both of the warriors on T19.

I also think I missed a tech during the T22 land points. Mack getting a tech there makes sense. I thought a tile was 3pts, looks like its actually 2.5pts. Dreylin also got a tech, which makes sense to be Wheel and there was an 8k total power increase. Dreylin also needs a warrior for the top power level to make sense, suggesting Mack got Myst.

After ending turn, our borders expanded.

t26 start.

I didn't notice but our border expansion did reveal a new tile, namely the sheep you can see here.

Also, someone who plays after us got buddhism.

Pausing to figure out whether we want to relocate our second city and whether we want to go for hinduism.

Editing in C&D:

The world had 20 pop last turn and 23 pop this turn. One of those was ours. The other two increased the total world population by 14k.
Scores went
Mackoti 130 -> 136 (+6)
Yuris 127 -> 134 (+7)
Dreylin 119 -> 119 (+0)
Ichabod 98 -> 111 (+13)

Yuris has to be pop and Ichabod has to be pop + tech. So mackoti was tech. Buddhism was Ichabod who plays after us in the turn.

Total rival power went up only 1k, so that would have been one of the pop growths. In fact it was the rival top power going from 28k to 29k.

Capital sizes went from 6/3/3/3/2 to 7/4/3/2/2. So someone also whipped their capital from 3 down to 2.
For reference, "pop" amounts of size 1/2/3/4 cities are 1k/6k/21k/48k.
So the growth from 3 to 4 was +27k and the whip from 3 to 2 was -15k. Add in 2k from planting two new cities and you reach +14k which was the actual difference in "pop".
Previous rival best "pop" was two cities, size 3 and 2. New rival best "pop" is 5400 i.e. size 4 and 2.

So: the player who had 3/2 pop grew to 4/2. (That also accounts for the +1k power.) I would guess that's Yuris, though I don't have a previous idea of how much pop our rivals have, just based on score and him having the other 2h start.
Probably Ichabod planted a new city and founded buddhism in it. Ichabod must now have odd pop because the power gain is already accounted for above. So he should be at 3/1.
And either Mackoti or Dreylin both whipped their capital 3->2 and also founded a new city. (The other of them was already at 2/1.)
(I counted up the total "pop" this would all be worth and it checks out.)
