IKR, had to have the stream muted and open on my second monitor during meetings.

Right?! While id love to watch the stream live, its a little bit hard to do that while walking around all day. cry

As a European, I find the time of the stream perfect (*). tongue

But most importantly, Sullla does this during his off day, while his wife is working.
He just might want to spend his evening and week-end with her, rather than streaming, you know.

(*) Not that it matters in my case, since I never watch it live.
I stopped watching live TV more than 10 years ago, I'm not going to start watching live streams any time soon.

Unfortunately there's no time that I can run the AI Survivor games which will work for everyone. I'm on the east coast of North America and I do have to pick a time that works for me. Any earlier in the day and the time will be bad for those on the west coast; any later and the time will be too late for those in Europe. Pretty much any time that I choose is going to be bad for east/south Asia and Australia simply because I'm on the complete opposite side of the world. I've picked Fridays at noon my local time because it's viable for most of the potential viewers and also fits into my personal schedule. AI Survivor eats up a full day with all of the setup, running the game, and then doing the post-game planning for the next match. As Wyatan said, I'd rather use my day off work for that as opposed to killing every single Saturday or Sunday for 3 months on end and not getting time to spend with the rest of my family. For that matter, I have run some of the AI Survivor games on Saturdays occasionally and the number of people watching has never been any higher. Some people could watch on Saturday who couldn't watch on Friday, and some people weren't able to watch who normally were able to. I'd love to schedule at a time that was perfect for everyone but it's just not possible in the real world. [Image: smile.gif]

Thanks for taking the time to run these games, Sullla! I am enjoying season five a lot so far, even if my picks have (somehow!) done even worse than last season. lol

Was this last game the single best performance by any German ever?
If only you and me and dead people know hex, then only deaf people know hex.

I write RPG adventures, and blog about it, check it out.

For the record, I'm in central Europe and I'd be happy to have the streams start 2-3 hours later so I could watch them live when the kids are in bed. Would probably be worse for the Russians though, and of course the most important thing is that it's minimal trouble for you.

It's neat how many of the advancing leaders are from the seeded pools. Should lead to some stacked playoffs if it keeps up.
Past Games: PB51  -  PB55  -  PB56  -  PB58 (Tarkeel's game)  - PB59  -  PB60  -  PB64  -  PB66  -  PB68 (Miguelito's game)     Current Games: None (for now...)

Frederick somehow reached the wildcard in Season One despite being squeezed by competitive neighbors.

Otherwise, pretty much, yeah.

Also:

Gandhi 1st, Caesar 2nd panned out very well last game, even though it was certainly a gambler's pick.  Shame my pick for Gandhi to win by culture just barely didn't work out.  I'm going to not-very-rationally react by picking another cultural victory!

Not that much of a gamble IMO, since the game was set up as a race between those two. If Gandhi won, Caesar second was a logical consequence. And even the reverse order wasn't out of the question : in the case of a Caesar succesful domination run, it would have been a toss-up between Gandhi and Hammurabi as to the last one standing.
One thing I didn't believe in was the Caesar-Suleiman ticket : even though peace weight seemed to favour such an alliance, the fact that Suleiman started much closer to Caesar than to Gandhi made it pretty unlikely to me.
One of the reasons Caesar tends to do well is that so far he hasn't been prone to launching expeditions across the map : he conquers methodically, starting with his neighbours.
And while I thought, like most people, that he would first murder Frederick, the next target was Suleiman.

I did note that Gandhi would lose the early wonders, which would slow his cultural progress but somewhat speed up his science... and I got punished for picking an early cultural victory which ran contrary to that observation.

@ Wyatan, the Suleiman situation was exactly why I thought Caesar would win it.  He'd eat his Turkish neighbour with Praets before turning on the Furor Tutobergensis. Pity Friedrich channelled his inner Hermann this game.
