Diplomacy Master Thread- Helping Your Opponents Beat Themselves

It takes some mildly creative interpretation for it to be valid. If I were them, it would piss me off. Still, I agree that Brick by Brick is the priority, and we only consider this if BbB falls through.

smile Well, "No settling past the oasis." is the deal, the oasis tile being the same distance from both capitals.

Do we have a diplomacy message ready for Civplayers? A suggestion:

"Greetings Civplayers!

Many warrior have given their lives to attempt contact with other teams. Alas, these brave souls are usually gnawed by vicious beasts or fallen beneath the clubs of vicious men. When desperate times call for desperate measures, only the bravest, most skilled, 35 hammer axemen are sent forth on this duty.

Thus far his mission is one of peace towards the civilised races. Let us propose an understanding of Non Aggression, a Pact that shall last 20 turns. We understand that your current goals are to erect many altars to your gods, and we have no intention of interfering with your mission.

Yours,
The Realms Beyond"

If somebody seriously sent me this in a diplo game, I would immediately declare war on them. lol

I liked the suggestions made by ASM and Old Harry, so I sent this:

How is the war going for your team? Any big news? I haven't seen much action lately, so I was just curious if you're making any headway against the Incans. I'm not sure how tuned-in they are right now given how infrequently they log in. Anyways, we do appreciate your commitment to playing turns at a reasonable pace during war time, and I hope you have continued success in your campaign. smile

Thanks,

Good thing I don't do diplomacy then! Get your butt to work smile

Still, one of our goals is to get a NAP out of the team that is most likely to be a strong rival (and has the ability to hurt us but not the other way around). How should we do so?

This. That proposed message was total facepalm.

Do we want to suggest they find a QT?

When we contact civplayers I'd say to not mention a NAP with the first message. There's a good chance imo they would ask for one. If they don't we can always do it in a subsequent message.

WPC Wrote:Hello scooter,

The war is going nicely, but same can't be said about our team. I don't know if you have been reading the threads at CFC, but our entire site went down before the new year. That is a reason why our team has been on a slow burn regarding diplomacy with other teams. If you have anything urgent game related matter, we would like you to contact our turn player, Beta, directly. For some time our nation has not been a team play civ, because we have no effective means to work as one. For now Beta is playing for us "single player".

Do you have Beta's email address for contact?

Anyway, if it is OK with you, I would like to keep the diplomatic status between our nations as they are until we get a forum running, and we can function as a team again. I also humbly as for extending the agreed NAP for now, even after the deadline, because we are in no condition to discuss about big changes to diplomacy without a forum to do so. Co-operation would be greatly appreciated.

If weplayciv.com stays down for a long time, we will organize a substitute forum and then get back to being a real team. At that time we can discuss grander plans again, and also form new agreements with your team. Could you agree with these terms?

If matters can't wait, just inform Beta directly. We have confidence that his decisions will be just and agreeable for most of our team.

Best regards,
