The Quarterdeck - Turn Discussion Thread

Sounds good. I do think that banks are totally worth the hammer investment, especially if you think of it as trading 200 wealth-hammers for the bank. A bank in Barbados would make 50+ gold for every turn of 0%, paying for itself in just 4 turns. Elsewhere the return is not quite as quick because there's no Bureaucracy (maybe 10 turns), but still worth it IMO. A 50% boost to our nationwide gold output will raise the slider about 10%

Ehh, I don't think Banks are worth very much. It's not 0% cash production that matters, it's breakeven, which is 70% without wealth and 80% with Wealth. I think we should settle that island filler, it'll pay for itself in trade routes after we lose our foreign ones to Mercantilism.

Polished off Aesthetics, Guilds in one-turn next turn. Sent response to Gillette.

Ok, I'm out of town until next Monday. I have limited internet, but hopefully at least once/day to play PB9.

First order of business, I finished a couple of Hindu Missionaries so the hammers don't decay. The Settler in Havana for the Iron completed:

Fort Zeelandia completed its Terrace:

Constitution in 3 turns.

I think we should settle a filler here:

We should contact M3 and ask them if they're okay with it, since it violates our border agreement from back in the day:

We are planning on settling a city here:

Do you have any problems with us settling this location?

If we ever come to blows that city is dead, but it has enough tiles to pay for itself so if M3 is ok then yes.

Iron city will be settled in two turns.

We should be fine farmer's gambiting, everyone's power is flat.

Got tired of wondering if it was more productive to build Wealth or a Bank in Barbados, so I made a spreadsheet:
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?...qUVE#gid=0

Bank pays for itself in about nine turns. Yellow boxes represent what the user must fill in. Despite the usual approximation caveats and whole 'raising the beaker slider reduces the base commerce and the value of the Bank,' I say we go for it. Will fill out with other cities eventually.
