I post this now since by now I was asked by multiple people. Some have wondered why a simple 1 civic switch costs more then 1 turn of anarchy. I will post a more detailed report about this in my curious civplayer segment, but the important factor in the calculation is this:
Code: iAnarchyLength += ((getNumCities() * GC.getWorldInfo(GC.getMapINLINE().getWorldSize()).getNumCitiesAnarchyPercent()) / 100);
As you can see the amount of cities in correspondence with the world size can increase the anarchy time. This is the reason why some players now have 2 turns of anarchy for a 1 civic switch. This is base BtS code and the reason why this didn't pop up before is that we rarely play on these huge maps with so many cities.

I will need an extension, I'm sorry. I've been travelling and won't be able to play the turn until tomorrow morning. 1-2 hours should be enough.

I have to ask this, but how does it happen that you, Donovan, stay in-game for hours? Do you use Civ as a music player?

"Superdeath seems to have acquired a rep for aggression somehow. In this game that's going to help us because he's going to go to the negotiating table with twitchy eyes and slightly too wide a grin and terrify the neighbors into favorable border agreements, one-sided tech deals and staggered NAPs."

I paused the game a few days ago for Donovan to make dinner partway through his turn, so maybe things like that.

I'm not sure of Donovan's situation, but sometimes (especially on weekends) I'll log in knowing that the kids will interrupt and then just keep Civ open in the background playing a few minutes at a time. Or on war turns I'll log in right after I get home from work to check the situation, then keep Civ open over dinner and kids bed time before sitting down to actually play.

I have a small question for the lurkers. Nothing dramatic and doesn't need an immediate answer, so play can continue uninterrupted.

Please don't take this as passive aggressive, or a sign of an unhealthy obsession with this game, but why are we pausing and extending the timer when nobody asked for it and there are no apparent turnsplits? The last time the turn went through Ichabod appeared to be fine with it as well ? (If he has asked for extension by PMing the admins or something I have no issues with that of course)

Donovan is pausing the timer usual when he is playing one of his 12 hour runs.
This he left with 40 minutes remaining and paused . I unpaused and added time because I felt it would be unfair to unexpectedly unpause with so little time.
But I agree with you and will stop doing that in the future
