AT Can't Drive 55

yes, roads. Don't take what I have down as gospel.

The given pattern handles the rivers pretty effectively. That said, most of the game will be played with bridges and a more efficient way to road is to go straight between HitchARide and Drive.

I may just go for long-term efficiency with roads, since this seems like it's going to be a fast researching game.

We'll see.

Seeing barb warriors out east. Bringing my scout back (it's at M1, so has long term value) and sending a warrior out to hopefully absorb their attacks.

Gavagai settled his 3rd city. I'm going to bring my southern scout back to help barb bust around the cap. it's too dangerous to send a scout out into the barb infested wilderness. Also, I want to see if Gavagai settled the horses wink

Turn 45 and Hinduism has not fallen, so I get at least a coin flip. I thought about delaying growth in DriveMyCar, but as I think about it, getting it either city is fine.

Chop in DriveMyCar for a workboat.

HitchARide is on warrior->worker->settler->settler- settler after that. Those settlers go for the near spot that shares the wheat, the copper and the horse site.
Drive is just growing. The worker is going to chop and road some around the cap, to help get the settler for the horse out on time in a few turns.

Assuming I get hinduism (I have no idea where I am in turn order), I need fishing, pottery, sailing and masonry in some order. well, I guess even if I don't get those, I need that. Probably fishing->Pottery->masonry->sailing, not sure. Getting a granary in DriveMyCar would be good. Actually, if we pop Hinduism in DriveMyCar, we will need fishing pretty fast, cause I'll pop borders in a few turns

We did get Polytheism, founded in DriveMrCar, which is fine.

I whipped in the workboat, which gives me an interesting choice - it was at 21/30, which means 21 overflow hammers. I have a warrior about to finish, at 14/15. So, i could just overflow the hammers into the warrior and into another warrior and get 5 gold from conversion. or I could overflow into something like stonehenge, then build warriors as I grow.

I think I need warriors for barb busting, so warrior->warrior->grow on a warrior.

I think I solved the mystery of gavagai roading over the horse - he founded hit city 1N of it, so he was just connecting. Nice thing about Gavagai being there is that, because he's creative, he'll barb bust a lot for me.

HitchARide gets a new worker with chopping and overflow

Love it when a plan comes together. This worker will chop/road to the NE. The one that just chop/mined will go to chop the forest for the purple, then road towards the copper.

What I ended up doing in DriveMyCar was change the build order to 14/15 warrior->workboat I had already whipped->warrior and then I guess I'll start another warrior.

Turn 47

Finished the wheat.   That worker will go chop/mine the wooded grasshill on the river - by the time that is done, I think I'll have pottery and will be able to start cottaging.  Not sure.

btw - you can see that I changed my roading - sometimes, things change because of thinking, other times it's because you had to move a worker 3 tiles to chop a forest and you needed something for it to do on the way  rolf

Cap starts it's long spell of settlers every 5 turns (or faster with chops).      Need to get one down to the copper reasonably fast - eventually, barb axes are going to show up, to say nothing of war chariots.

Gavagai is setting up his cap to 3 pop whip settlers, I presume.    I'm guessing he's chopped in a granary, though I don't know.    Hopefully, he's not just driving his expansion north - if so, we are going to end up in conflict pretty soon.

Hmm.. gavagai putting a city there is a bit of an issue. It means that I need to expand south to ensure I get my fair share, which is more reactive than I was hoping to be. The problem is that if I wait too long, his culture will start taking over the fatcross tiles for my southern most city, which is bad.

I guess if he goes north of that city, I will end up having to fight him.

My warrior got attacked by a barb - across a river, in a forest, 3% for the barb to win. I won, but has .2 health!! Hopefully, I'll be able to let him be to heal in place, but 9 turns is a long time.

Beyond that, not much interesting is happening. workboat is exploring up north - I've got some time before I'll need it (I'll use the cow as a 2nd tile for a while)

Gavagai settled his 4th city. I am between the two fastest expanding civs!! This is not good for me, given that both of them have dominant early UU's and I have a mid game civ.

So, my border with gavagai is an issue:

90% sure that the lower yellow circle is his capitol, which puts the tiles in the yellow exactly in between. His new city gets that line around turn 90, assuming he doens't put more culture on that city. That means I need to get a city down there soon. My plan had been to put 2 down there and then start east, but I think I need to get the gems locked in sooner.

So, my next 3 cities go down there:

Red, then orange, then blue. I hope to have archery by then (I'm going pottery->archery) - worst thing that could happen is me to plant and then have a war chariot hit me with a couple of warriors. that would be a disaster.

Up north, I've been exploring. I might be a little screwed here:

Given what I see, there is no way plant cities that get me all the northern sea food. Maybe the island goes further north - hopefully it does and I can put 2 cities on that island (which looks like a decent moai spot, too.
