Can you leave the city name blank?

Square Leg Wrote:Or you could rename them every turn. You want your opponent to get use to something so that they miss when it changes ... or misread it when it changes. Either constant motion or stationary is the way to go so that they treat what they are seeing as 'business as usual'. Then you can have some real fun with them when things change. I think constantly renaming cities when being invaded is probably the right thing to do ... so constant names at the moment will lull them into accepting it as a fixed version.

Here is an update for my other Sitting Bull Spanish game ... I am playing 'Sitting Ruff of the Western Expanse', also known as the 'Ghost Dancers'. After chopping out the Oracle (T0) and The Great Wall (T1), I later chopped out Stonehenge.
I sent one of my starting settlers North and the other West. ![]() My land is the pink one that is hard to see. I am next to the Dutch (long term NAP, swap of stone / marble when required, waived settlement rights between us) and have the Yellow Someones to my north (OBs and trade routes already). I've also found the Blue someones. You will notice that I have tons and tons of room to my West - the Western Expanse was a named to reflect a Western version of Spain (ie they expanded to their West) but it seems to be spot on here. Apparently the yellow team (another NAP with them too) have already started warring on someone that I haven't met. I just finished Monarchy, I don't have any metal connected so all of my cities will be building settlers and warriors for a while now - lots of cities are good. Lots of big cities are better! The map is an inland sea but with world wrap - I didn't even know you could do that. I should complete Magellan next turn.

Adhoc has his 5th city planted last turn. I wonder if he sees the 3 barbarian axes I saw heading his way 2 turns ago - having TGW is certainly making my life easier.
My settler is on route to the gems city - that will be my 5th. I'm down to 2nd last in score, mainly due to the others catching and passing me. I guess their libraries are starting to come on-line (I am not building libraries). I have a warrior walking through NSA's land finding their cities. He is in the North but I will be sending him South after this turn. They have a warrior on my eastern border so I guess they will be doing the same thing. My military city will be starting to build non-stop military from now on - it has the buildings it needs (granary, barracks). I'll start with Archers, cheaper, provide MP happiness and I am protective. My chariot is at 5xp and is looking for barbs to get to 10xp.

Having a holy city doesn't get you any extra discount. You get -40% if the city you are stealing from has your state religion. You don't get anything extra if you have the shrine. I just finished producing my Great Priest to make the shrine before starting to steal tech ... and it didn't save me one red EP. Not to worry - the spies had to wait to get the -50% stationary bonus anyway. The Great Steal is starting. gold at 0% went from +22 to +32 with the shrine and +50 once I had stolen Currency.

Part of the fun of having the Great Wall ...
![]() The Barb was on the ice hill and moved directly North, thus providing the opening for me to run my settler past him .

BTW - how does the final EP cost equation work? ![]() 1039 * .8 * .6 * 1.21 * .5 * .74 = 224 not the 218 shown. Guess I am missing some roundings?
