Silveric by himself isn't dangerous, but if supported by a decent stack of archers or warriors he can be dangerous and reduce the garrisons of even well-defended cities. But with a single move and no collateral he can only threaten one unit a turn.

Dexterous is a race trait of the Ljos, so yes.

Starts and tries to figure out a way to move the workers to (a) minimise lost worker turns, (b) get the cottages around Vallus up most efficiently, © support the development of Cyan. Removed a bunch of old signs.

I decide I'm going to move two workers (one present and the one being built in Vallus) counter-clockwise around Vallus, cottaging. The two southern workers will support the development of Cyan.

The west scouting group has to dodge two bears, one from the east and one from the west.

RoK founded in distant land on the 81st cycle since the emergence from Hell.

Southern scout continues close by the coast, and ends up next to a gorilla with massive claws. Even in a forest, he's dead... Northern group avoids bears, and the scout finds Letum Frigus!

Micro Vallus off the farms and goes to the newly built cottages (it's at the happy limit right now).

Our in the west scout enters Letum Frigus, as the first beings since Kylorin's battle against Mulcairn!

And thus denying AGG to the Illians.

The northwest is a cold and decolate area, but rich in resources. Too bad there are too many bears around!

The gorilla doesn't attack our southern scout, who moves away with alacrity - only to end up next to a C2-spider!

The last message from the southern scout is: "Don't send out no scouts no more to explore no more! Give me dogs! Or a horse to ride upon!"

As expected, the southern scout is eaten by the spider. The western group sees a group of four Lizardmen and a bear close by. The scout can maybe get away, but the warrior can't evade the lizards.

The lizardmen doesn't attack our scouting warrior, so he "only" has a bear next to him now. I move the scout first, and he ends up next to another bear with the first move. There are bears in both directions, but at least the group is out of sight of them now, and together.

Two workers are cottaging around Vallus, while the other two are roading in support of the founding of Cyan.

Crafting is in, and Mining is selected as the next tech. Micro Vallus off the sheep - it still grows at +1F, but works all commerce-rich tiles.

The settler arrives on cycle 86! It moves so it can found Cyan on two cycles later. Torrolerial is set to build another worker. We're going to need workers with Cyan and Magenta soon to be founded, and with the need to chop and mine in seven or eight turns.

Far too many bears around the western scouting group. They end up next to yet another bear! They will try to get back safely, but have no high hopes for that.

Our scouting warrior is eaten by the bear, but our scout get a good chance for revenge, and wins flawlessly for 2 XP. The settler moves to Cyan with warrior escort.

The western scout now has a lizard nearby. Guerilla 1 isn't that good a promotion, but it will give the best chance of survival. Deliberates on where to make a stand - on the hill SW (with the deer) or the one SE. Decides on SE, and there turns out to be a C3 bear next to the SW hill!

Trinity is founded on Cyan dot! It is protected by the guerilla warrior and an unpromoted warrior. It starts a monument, working the silk for now.

Our scout is on a forested hill on the coast, with bears and lizards in every direction! I can't evade anything, so fortifies on the hill. At least he has almost a 50-50 shot at the nearby bear.

Torrolerial builds a worker, and queues up a settler next. It's due in 10 cycles, but can be helped by a few chops.

As expected, one of the lizards kills our scout. Jonas Endain creates Rantine on the 90th cycle.

Again, I miss that it's my last cycle, and all the workers end up doing their stuff.

I've left a bunch of notes for what I think the workers should do next.

Nice scouting work to find Letum Frigus. thumbsup The Illians certainly do not need the boost.

Do the Illians somehow know that someone else entered the feature, and get a diplo malus against you? Or are they just annoyed in general because Auric is a grumpy gus? lol

Auric is always annoyed, and these Illians probably needs all the boosts they can get! Or at least he is always annoyed with us. I have no idea which sort of message he gets, or if it simply doesn't happen anything when he enters it later on (I think it's the latter, based on FFH PBEM 1).

It was Brian who sent out the scouting parties, and managed to get them almost all the way: I probably wouldn't have bothered. But denying Agg to the Illians is probably worth 75 hammers (two scouts and a warrior).

Some more stuff. Lets start with demographics:

The demographics for turn 89, which are reflected in the graphs of turn 90. Our GNP is effectively tripled compared to my previous turnset.

The score development. I tried to do some C&D, and will give the result of that later. Do note how badly Auric is lagging, with no early food, no luxuries, and low happy cap.

Our GNP has three spikes: the settling of Vallus (working cotton); getting the EC+sage; and getting cottages. Expect the curve to continue to spike upwards: the Academy, the silk coming online soon, settling Magenta, and cottage maturing.

Doing quite well in food, especially since neither Vallus nor Torrolerial is in growth mode right now, and Trinity doesn't have its food tiles up yet.

Our manufacturing is stagnating, but we're researching mining, so this will improve shortly.

What the graphs show clearly, however, is how dominant a position Jonas and the Clan has.

My notes on enemy techs:

The AIs start with Crafting and Ancient Chants; the Ljos and the Illians also start with Exploration.

Amelanchier has built Gilden, and I think I also can see Deruptus in their capital. That means he has Archery, and either Hunting or Mining. I think I see six score increases that are due to tech, one of which is probably from a hut or dungeon. Given the slump between their first and second researched techs, I would think they went for an early Hunting, but I haven't seen them use any hunters, only scouts, so I guess it's Mining. Amelanchier also has Calendar, and quite probably also Knowledge of the Ether (based on mouseover of their reagents).

He has: Agriculture, Exploration, Crafting, Chants, Calendar, Mysticism, Knowledge of the Ether, Archery and either Mining or Hunting.

Auric has Cartography, and I think I can see two increases that fits with a new tech in their graph. From their Score graph I can only note two other techs, which is confirmed by looking at their GNP graph - it has hardly been improved at all once you remove the settled Great Bard.

He has: Exploration, Crafting, Chants, Cartography, and two more techs. Fishing and Hunting are not among them.

Jonas had two early techs, at least one is from a hut. I think I see five tech score increases, but their graph makes it hard to read. There is probably least one more. They have also built Rantine, so they have Bronze Working.

He has: Crafting, Chants, Mining, and Bronze Working, and four or five more techs.

Os-Gabella has built pastures, so she has Agriculture and Animal Husbandry. Her silk shows "requires: plantation", so she has Calendar. She has revolted to God King, so has Mysticism. Neither of her animals has a road yet (ie requires route). I see three score increases consistent with tech, but there might very well be one or two more.

She has: Agriculture, Crafting, Chants, Calendar, Animal Husbandry, Mysticism, and maybe more. The harpy event has also stunted her considerably. I think she might lack Exploration!

Planning ahead:

I included some notes about future worker actions - hope they're understandable. Try to be on the lookout for copper, that's one tile we want a mine on as soon as possible. Even if it's the tile marked "preserve" (in the hope of a forest growth on the deer. Both Trinity and Magenta should aim to get monuments up ASAP with the help of chops. Magenta can also borrow the sheep and the single farm of Vallus to grow quickly.

The settler is meant for Magenta, obviously, but we have to decide exactly which tile to use.

Keep a sizable reserve on the road halfway between Vallus and Torrolerial, where they quickly can reinforce any city in the empire. Trinity will also probably need a strong garrison, to dissuade attack and cover the workers. Our power rating might look good, but we barely have the forces to garrison our cities, screen our workers, and keep a minimal reserve. I encountered four stacked lizardmen during the turnset, and that is the kind of forces we need to be able to defend against right now. We have had an easy ride so far - in a way it's been too easy, so our units are inexperienced.

Once we get the great sage, we should switch civics, probably to Nationhood and Apprenticeship, and bulk up our forces. Torrolerial can 1-turn warriors if it's configured for 18 base production. I'd like to increase our with several more warriors and maybe a few scouts. The scouts are not to be sent out to explore! Keep them with the warrior or close to our borders, where they can check for incoming forces and pick off badly wounded enemies.

If we have copper easily accessible within our borders (or in first-ring for Magenta), I think we should go for Bronze Working next. Otherwise get either Hunting or HBR, so we can get some str 4 units in the field.

Given the lack of roads in Os-Gabella's land, we might have an opportunity to attack her with bronze warriors. If we do that, I think we should go Mining-Bronze-HBR, so we can get Mobility I promotions and a few horsemen for scouting, pillaging, and picking off any Pyre Zombies she might have built. We should try to get Amelanchier to join in on our side.

The alternative is "pink dot", claiming the land in the northwest and boxing in Auric. I like that better than white dot or (shudder) green dot. If we do that, we should look at Code of Laws to get the winter palace online.

Be careful with choppings in Torrolerial - without the many forests the city is health constrained. Long-term, I think the city will need all the health buildings it can get. Maybe our choppings should go towards a granary, smokehouse, or herbalist? (Probably a granary, since we have a rice we can reach to our south.)

Oh, one more thing: Vallus is at the happy cap. If something happens there, get it off the sheep/farms, until the silk is online and we want it to grow.

Maybe best to assign both those tiles to Magenta, when that is up.

Only humans can get the event for entering Letum Frigus. Claim it at your leisure if you're playing Amurites or Illians in a single player game. In a multiplayer game it is first come first served, with no other players gettting anything. No prize for second place!

Ah. Good to know.

OK, I see the three possible options/results from the screenshot earlier. Most civs get nothing, Illians get AGG trait added. What do the Amurites get if they enter Letum Frigus first?

Golden Age.
