Wow, Mozart and Shakespeare... You are a very lucky one with your great artists...

Really glad I'm not the only one who got a huge kick out of that

Turn 139 (Turn 14)
Sian's scouting archer appeared to the northeast:
In the meantime, I started thinking about potential locations to use our GA. Since Sian will probably be expanding away from us and we're planning on killing him, I think the GA bomb would be better used as a defensive measure against Shoot & Nakor or in the very middle of the map - depending on what's there. Here's on potential spot to use Shakespeare:
Here are the border on the equivalent location between Sian and us:
I would prefer to plant on a hill, and there's not one in the equivalent spot 1NW of the Wheat between us and Shoot/Nakor. However, I feel pretty sure there will be a hill around there that could pick up at least the two sheep. This bomb also walls off both coastlines and the inner sea peninsula for me to settle. Alternatively, I could be even more aggressive with it and steal more of their grassland. However, I would rather have a defensible location. I would also rather not push StN into attacking me. Ideally, they see me bomb, acknowledge they cannot take the location, and turn their efforts to settling the border with Mackoti instead.
End Turn.

Or.......I could bomb on Sian and take his iron......which would mean no pikes for him This supposes there is not another easily accessible source for him.

Pfft we eat pikes. Let him build them and we'll kill them.
I vote for pushing Shoot. Of course, it depends on how deeply Pindicator is committing to this game, he's a pretty good player. He does have what, 1.5 other games to worry about? Let's hope it's Sian in the driver's seat.

It is Sian in the driver's seat, Pindicator is only acting as ded-lurker. We spoke right before the game began and he's too overbooked at the moment (PBEM23, PBEM26, PB7) to take any sort of active role in this game.
PB6 Spoiler

How close are you to scouting the land on SN's side? Seems like an important part of making an informed decision with your artist.
I also have to say, don't underestimate Sian. He's had a lot of practice at defense (moreso than Pin) and shown the aptitude for fighting from the underdog role.
I do agree with NC: don't worry about the iron... get a good hill/forest sentry spot and fortify.

Chat with Ceiliazul:
Quote:ceil: do you think Sian will turn it around? he seems pretty set on not getting choked this time
me: I think he's going to do a lot better
he's been consistently updating this thread
and he certainly is not screwing around with my archer, I'm a little surprised to be honest
ceil: I'm not
Nicolae is wrong about Sian
maybe not on grand strategy, but the guy is battle hardened
me: don't get me wrong, I have the utmost respect for him as a player and his abilities
He got dealt a really shitty hand in PBEMs 23 & 26
Just legitimately, he is the least-skilled player in this game, and given the choice between attacking someone with Jannisairies or Redcoats
I prefer to knock out the Redcoat guy before he gets to rifling, regardless of who's playing
ceil: haha, true that. England is so scary they usually get smacked first
you actually have a good civ against england tho
Curs are well positioned to smack just before rifling
might come in handy
me: Hoping it works out that way
I'm a little unsure of my decision to go GA -> GL at this point, that it's hurting my early expansion too much
still, can address that in the post-mortem if it turns out I did make the wrong choice
ceil: well, the GA bomb will go a long way toward flexibility in expansion
me: Mackoti whipped down one of his cities this turn, so I'm expecting to see him get a third soon
ceil: you might even flip a reach city if you time it right
me: good point
ceil: Mack is scary... the others will hopefully respond by running toward the roa
me: If I do fire it off towards StN, hoping they back down and settle towards Mackoti
ceil: they can't let him get too much land
me: Sian should be settling toward Mackoti, so hopefully some fireworks erupt over there
