Game paused as per Ichabod's instruction.
I've got some dirt on my shoulder, can you brush it off for me?

I think the best thing is for me not to play and for the players to find someone else who they are all happy with. There are plenty of players out there who are more than capable and perhaps a consensus can be found without resorting to ill-advised insults and swearing between fellow players.

I’m sorry to the other players who are going to be delayed in playing but I play Civ for fun and this has really left a sour taste in my mouth

Yep these were my thoughts as well, and I will be dropping out of this game too. I was already considering it, but thought that I could just focus on my gameplay and ignore the drama. If I can't even welcome a new player and fulfill his unpause request without getting abused, I don't think I can play in this game without losing my mind. I'm really sorry for dropping out, but I don't want a repeat of PB2.. Which was an epic game, don't get me wrong, but I'm sure every participant of that game regrets all the unnecessary drama around it. I thought we could have an enjoyable chilled game with honour rules and RB spirit akin to the other recent ones I've played in (PB9, PB12, PB13). I think these games require everyone to work together, be friendly, and be honourable. There are no amount of rules that can cover everything, in the end it is up to the players. I hope that this game will work out, it is not doomed by any means. Good luck.

Ok, I crossposted with this post, that's why I didn't refer to it in my previous one.

ad hoc, I don't think anyone has a problem with you playing in the game; quite the contrary, I think most of them are very happy that you offered yourself to take over. All this discussion going on is, as far as I can tell, based on reasons other than you taking over flug's spot.

I think you'd be more than welcome to play this game. That being said, I obviously won't force you to do it. I'm just asking that, if the sole reason for you leaving the game is the impression that people have a problem with you playing, you should reconsider.

Despite the gloomy predictions that usually haunt the start of RB Pitbosses, I think we have managed to get things going most of the time. This game surely hit some speedbumps, but I don't see it as a train-wreck yet. So, let's maybe give it another chance? I can't vouch for the players, saying they'll start behaving differently from now on, but I think everyone can see that it's better for the health of the game if some comments are just not made - I am under the assumption that everyone here wants to play a game, not argue over the internet, so I think that should be taken into account when deciding what to post here.

Are you sure about that, Jowy? Like I said above, I think this game can work out, it just needs more focus on the game itself and less focus on everything else. I'm sure things will get better when there's actually a game to be played.

What Ichabod said. I hope you two reconsider your choices.

I also hope that ad hoc will join us for this game, and that everyone else will stay.

Guys, ad_hoc is literally awesome, and I trust his spirit of fair play completely (some of his actions in PB8 might have gone unreported, but he bent unbelievably backwards to prevent even the possibility of double-moving plako). I'm not getting into the argument over Jowy and Noble's actions, but I thought I should put that out there.
Merovech's Mapmaking Guidelines:
0. Player Requests: The player's requests take precedence, even if they contradict the following guidelines.

1. Balance: The map must be balanced, both in regards to land quality and availability and in regards to special civilization features. A map may be wonderfully unique and surprising, but, if it is unbalanced, the game will suffer and the player's enjoyment will not be as high as it could be.

2. Identity and Enjoyment: The map should be interesting to play at all levels, from city placement and management to the border-created interactions between civilizations, and should include varied terrain. Flavor should enhance the inherent pleasure resulting from the underlying tile arrangements. The map should not be exceedingly lush, but it is better to err on the lush side than on the poor side when placing terrain.

3. Feel (Avoiding Gimmicks): The map should not be overwhelmed or dominated by the mapmaker's flavor. Embellishment of the map through the use of special improvements, barbarian units, and abnormal terrain can enhance the identity and enjoyment of the map, but should take a backseat to the more normal aspects of the map. The game should usually not revolve around the flavor, but merely be accented by it.

4. Realism: Where possible, the terrain of the map should be realistic. Jungles on desert tiles, or even next to desert tiles, should therefore have a very specific reason for existing. Rivers should run downhill or across level ground into bodies of water. Irrigated terrain should have a higher grassland to plains ratio than dry terrain. Mountain chains should cast rain shadows. Islands, mountains, and peninsulas should follow logical plate tectonics.

Jowy contacted me to say that he wants to be replaced. I'll post a thread in the Civilization General Discussion forum to look for a replacement player. I think people should start discussing if letting someone slightly spoiled play the game is reasonable (maybe a ded-lurker from another player), because I'm not confident we can find yet another unspoiled player.

Logged in to play my turn, saw that the game is for some reason paused, went to check tech thread and OH CRAP. Noble, stop doing this stuff please, it's not funny anymore. I would understand if you've tried to scare away Seven but why target Jowy?
(Game is repaused, I didn't play.)

I can play - I do know the map of course, but hey, I'm old, so if I haven't died already, I probably forgot till this game reaches T50.
