[SPOILERS] Insert witty title here.

On my phone so I can't give a full response yet, but pursuant to Red Dot, one thing you didn't mention about moving is giving up the shared elephants. Did you factor that in and just not mention it (which is obviously fine) or does that change your opinion?

In either case, tonight or tomorrow morning I'll certainly the the time to look over all your suggestions closely to see if I agree with your adjustments. Thanks again!

I saw giving up shared elephant, but with all other production available I do not consider it an important factor. Hogwarts should use the tile well enough, and Red would have many other good tiles to work (hill mines and coast mainly).
As for start-up, I do not think that tile would do anything that can't be achieved by quickly setting up a convenient mine (and working immediately available Clams!). Especially as - will it even be improved at the time of Red plant?

EDIT: looking at the dotmap again, a lot of Hogwarts' tiles would be shared. NE hills may even be permanently taken by Red. So that 2/3/1 tile would be very healthy for Hogwarts' own production capability.

before You comment on my comments, I'll just let You know that the more I think about it, the more I like Orange (moved to be coastal) and less I think of it as a filler. It doesn't have a clear specialization, but between coasts, grass, abundant food and a few hills should be very solid city. After specialized Red and Purple this may actually be a good 3rd plant.

Turn 11 Report

Really nothing of note this turn. The Scout went with the option of scouting a bit more around the western Crabs/Sheep and didn't see anything awesome, but there's definitely more fertile land for a cottage haven. The Worker started Mining the hill as planned. I also have an updated Demos shot (if you care).

Scorewise (no screenshot), we have DTG at 40 (Size 2, no techs), Logic/Khan/Alhazard at 39 (Size 1, cheap tech), ipecac at 33 (Size 1, no tech).
So DTG went Workboat first and grew while likely researching BW.
Logic/Khan/Alhazard researched a cheap tech (Mining/Fishing/Myst(?)/Wheel(?)) while building a Worker.
ipecac is likely researching BW while building a Worker.

I do, but not as much as for map. If You have any particular thoughts about demo ratings, put raw ratings in too - this would let me comment (like now).

There are soldier count increases, and Fishing and Mysticism do not inflate soldiers, I think. So at least some of them went for Mining and/or Wheel.

EDIT: Soldier total increased by 5000, opponent best by 2000.
1000 from population.
Wheel is 4000, but increase is around for a few turns, so I doubt someone got it in time (it's extra turn or two).
So it's Hunting or Mining twice, and one non-military tech.
I checked Your posts and first +2000 was on turn 6 - indicating cheaper Hunting (and ruling out Wheel completely). So one Hunting (? - probably someone going for resources...), one Mining (Zulu or Sumeria)

another EDIT: Sumeria started with Wheel (4000) and rival best did not increase on t6, which indicates that it's Sumeria(Alhazard) that got Mining.
Hunting must have gone to Rome as Zulu start with it.
Which means Mysticism/Fishing must have gone to Zulu? Fishing for food? Or a religion?

Turn 12 Report

Our Scout continued on his journey, and found more food down in the southwest.

Meanwhile, the Demos/Score show us that DTG completed a tech and the corresponding hike in Soldiers confirm it was Bronze Working.

Hopefully after BW we'll see some useful Copper, too wink

Ideally it pops on one of those grassland hills by the deer at Red Dot. I can dream, right?

Not that I need Copper unless I'm being attacked by horses.

Turn 13Report

Our Scout continues along his path and comes across some Wines down by the Rice. There is definitely a lot more fertile and desirable land to the south than to the North, but it's also increasingly looking like we might have our own peninsula down there that wouldn't be contested early on. If that turns out to be the case, we will need to carefully balance the desire to fight over land North of Hogwarts and the better (and more easily-defended) back-line southern lands.

In other news, DTG is apparently still not building a Worker since he's up to Size 3 (with only the one improved tile). Seems like a very unconventional start, though perhaps a necessary one based on the terrain even if Work Boat starts are traditionally not as good as Worker-first.

This suggests stopping North expansion at protecting Red Dot (Orange and maybe something N of Red) - abandoning Pink for now.

True, and I vaguelly thought about it too. "Peninsula as backfill" is certainly viable, and means Gems need to be skipped for now. BUT for this area to be backlines, we need at least one city (probably two) further South - SE of Purple. Those cities would be further than first ring - my preference would be to settle Orange before them anyway.

Also, initial settlement plan looks more and more like Red->Purple then!
EDIT: current Scout location seems like an interesting site for 2nd wave wink

Mehmed of Rome is something I have no idea what it's about... But it allows fast expansion. _Maybe_ it's something along the lines of my original plan? As in: tech as much as possible on one city, without costs, and then explode with Settlers when closer to monetary techs? Such plan can assume early city growth and then pumping Workers/Settlers out of already grown city...
