I think the fact that we have been and are settling in jungle area kinda gives away that we have IW. That said, I don't think it's a big deal. It'd probably give a very small positive feeling towards us but not one that would last long enough or be large enough to effect anything meaningful.

Do they know that we've settled the jungle area?
They don't have visibility on the tiles around Tree Huggers. Forbidden Fruit is somewhat marginal without IW, but it has some worthwhile tiles (especially the forested spices), and it was quite some time they sent a unit our way.
They can find out about Forbidden Fruit, but then they must use the culture overlay trick, or check how jungled tiles disappear.
Ie, we know they have a C&D department, but I doubt it has as much institutional and technical knowledge as we have.
Furthermore, I consider that forum views should be fluid in width

True. I forget how slow the game is moving and, therefore, how little map knowledge there is out there.

We could tell them where their iron is if they catch on that we know IW and ask us. At that point we can get some diplo credit, but I don't really see the benefit to us offering the information before then, unless CFC can offer us something similarly useful in return. Until then, we can say that we thought they already had the teach as well, given that they planted a city right next to an resource already.

Should we, as a sign of niceness, let them know they have Iron and won't need to settle for it?
As a bonus, if they tech iron working, they'll settle north, instead of northwest.

Ok to squelch the iron thing - it's pretty trivial either way. We gain almost nothing from telling them, we lose almost nothing from telling them. I think rather than get into a big risk analysis debate with microscopic risk and microscopic reward, I'll just make it simple and say we will not tell them about the iron unless they ask.

Add an iron pun such as:
Quote:We're just trying to defog as much of the map as possible with Welcome Wagon right now since screenshot trading is banned pre-Paper, but directions would be much appreciated. Have you ironed out a working diplomatic solution with the Spanish team or are they still kind of difficult to communicate with? We have several Spanish speakers on our team, so we're hoping that might help things go smoothly with them.

Oh I already sent it like 24 hours ago - see my post in the tracking thread. This is why the continuing discussion of the iron has been sort of amusing . I think people are typing more than they are reading.

Thanks for the message. We're definitely on board with reducing the turn timer to 36 hours. We'll let you know by the end of the week whether we want to do this immediately, or after the current war.
The fastest route to the Spaniards is for WW to go 3-3-9-9-9-6-9. This follows our road network, and keeps you on mostly defogged tiles for maximum safety. Our diplo with them has been going well recently, just had to get used to their style.
