Superdeath and the Revenge of pb38

We are at most, id say... 3turns away from him moving his stack into my territory.

I still will, to this day. Not understand why he decided to go after a still fully intact empire, and not take a bite out of his crumbling neighbor... Letting DZ/TBS have the rest/whole of Commodore without any competition was one of the reasons i didnt want to have peace with them. Along with TBS ruining my chances of victory of course..

Tarkeel, i do hope to read your reasoning in 2022 when this PB is over with. My chances of winning this game ended with TBS coming over the border with his own stack of WE's/HA's many moons ago, so my empire can be whipped to the ground without a thought or care in the world. Why would you want that aimed at you?

So, Tarkeel decided to jump the gun by a couple turns and moved his stack in. It was fine by me either way, but easier to take out a stack that has 4 rifles, than 20...
Started the turn off by killing another Caravel, i had to delete mine otherwise he would have a free hit + retreat with his own Caravel. Then came the catapults. I didnt WANT to use all of them, but using all of them got me decent odds on the only thing i was worried about. Rifles. Everything else was 50/50 or better as my war-torn nation has access to alot of exp on our units....

First couple knights will be missed, but they helped damage those pesky rifles and set me up for this:

(ignore the early use of longbows, i figured i could save the knights for the end for some stupid reason, but ended up not needing to)

Other than a damn War Chariot getting a low-odds win vs a longbow, i cleaned up his entire invading stack. He has some defenders in his border city + 3 Cav's and 2 rifles that i can see. I dont really want to hit those just yet, as i need to rebuild my catapult stack. ETA on my own rifles? Well, i can tech at roughly 50% rate, and its 4t for gunpowder at 100%. Guessing ill hit Replaceable parts about the same time that DZ/TBS brings his army back around to hit me. Just a little bit more time.... thats all i need.. My HE city is pumping c3 formation knights right now, will be awesome to see some high promo rifles or cav's pumped out before the heat death of this pitboss.

Got this PM from Tarkeel..

Could have avoided all of this, and stopped DZ/TBS from consolidating all of Commodores lands mannnn.

i believe with this loan i can make it to rifles. If DZ can accept my peace treaty ill be able to run a bunch of wealth builds and get it faster.. (he declared on me last turn for some odd reason, and hasnt done anything... maybe its part of some Copper/copper for War that Tarkeel sent him as they both are copper/copper each other...) -side note- Tarkeel siding with the large DZ instead of me is more than a bit dumb. Tarkeels actions this game have made me scratch my head more than once and have lowered my expectations of him for future games.

Tarkeel cannot smash thru me. That previous dip in the power graph? Thats when he attacked last time and i showed him what someone with prep can do. DZ cannot smash thru me. All they will do together is get one of them to suicide against my stack while the other slowly eats cities. Guess who is going to win in that? If you guessed DZ, GUESS WHAT... you guessed it right. My cities over by DZ/JoshyLand are weak/not core cities. What am i going to protect more, weak cities or core/HE/Capital?? Tarkeel's #1 mistake here is never siding with me as an ally. #2 would be him not jumping on Commodore once he had the huge tech advantage. #3 is choosing to not try and split DZ with myself, and instead let DZ have the choice of teching up hard, or teching up + lending some spare units to eat some free cities on our border..

My current main forces. I have several longbows/pikes in the border city that i will use as additional hitters after my collateral hits.

I have vision on a decent amount of Tarkeel's cities, and i dont spot any "major" stack anywhere so this is basically all he has..

Sigh.

Tarkeel is going to boat my island of Starset. If he holds off (and doesnt add a bunch of frigates) i might have enough caravels to at least sink his lil navy on this side... frown

DZ is going to get a couple cities off of me. The low-ground city he got because i lost a 42% defense roll which is.... "fair" but its whatever. I decided to vacate IncenseCity and going to hold up some defenders in StoneCity. Hopefully to delay him while i wipe another Tarkeel stack if he ever manages to form one.. Probably just gonna harass my coastline and make me wish i had Tech.

Northern catapult stack vs tarkeel. My knight stack can roughly hit either side of my empire from its current position.

My southern anti-DZ stack. It is there mainly to make sure DZ doesnt send his stack in. It will be retreated if Tarkeel shows significant strength.

DZ landed this on one of my islands and while its not really a loss if the island falls, id rather it didnt... So, ill try and whip/reinforce as much as possible. Mainly its annoying because his galleons can threaten my coast and tie up defenders.

Power graph to show that im not really behind either neighbor in power despite being far smaller than DZ and behind Tarkeel in tech (im getting rifling in 3t, and Tarkeel should have infantry very shortly + he has cannons..

I cant currently take on any army in the world that has MG's, but anything short of that i "could" shred.

So lets review again.

Tarkeel hasnt attacked again. Has a Copper/copper with DZ who is behind in tech. I have a hate-boner for TBS's well timed War Elephant attack that conquered my Joshy land. DZ inherited that. So, Tarkeel could have EASILY taken his 50t+ tech lead on everyone else on the continent and helped me take DZ down a peg while conquering ex-Commodore land for more production. I would still be just as backwards compared to him, but he would have far more production to actually abuse his tech lead. Moving on...

DZ now is heading towards rifling, which with his city count and the fact that my 2 main cities i want to protect are on Tarkeels side of the border mean that ill be less inclined to waste a stack defending a filler city vs him. The clock is ticking on Tarkeel being able to feasibly become the ruler of this land before someone else lands troops over here (Amica has a TON of galleons staged in "odd" places so im betting he is going to invade at some point either pre or post my death)

What would i have done differently this game? Wealth-built to War elephants sooner so that i could prevent TBS from taking my hard/fun fought land.

What should others have done differently:

Tarkeel: Should have either jumped on Myself or Commodore during the TBS vs us days and grabbed some cities. OR do as previously stated in the last 40+ turns.

Commodore: I dont really know as i didnt have vision on anything over there for very much time.. I do know i sent diplo stating that TBS has literally ALL OF HIS LAND BASED ARMY (i had full vision on him) at my doorstep, and Commodore could have sent in the legions, but noooooooo....

TBS: Played nearly perfectly as always, and probably just got screwed in how fast Joshy fell and that i didnt give up nor Commodore? Dont know.

So, if i get a couple turns ill have a healthy stack of rifles ready to go. Dont know if DZ will make due on his deal and go hit Tarkeel on his other side? /shrug.
